How did the Satterwhite vs Bordelon experiment go?

Did Satterwhite earn the starting role? It seemed protection was much better but I didn't look into specifics of LG.
I saw Bordelon came in later in the game when Satterwhite shifted to C.
Anyone know how they compared?

Satterwhite graded out at 52.3 in 59 snaps.
Bordelon graded out at 60.7 in 28 snaps.
Neither are very good players at the moment.

Sam had the best pass pro of season.

Idk what the depth chart is but Harper is still listed as OT on the roster

I dove deep into the A&M film from the first 3 quarters. My notes have Satterwhite with 4 + snaps and 3 - snaps. Bordelon had 1+ and 1-.

You would think there would be a version of PFF rating that omitted penalties, but I have no idea how the number is generated.
These scores also do not scale in a way that makes sense across positions. I have noticed OL get graded hard by PFF anything > 70 can be very good performance.
Whereas for a QB you want 80+

They are all weighed differently.
Both of Satterwhite's penalties were very detrimental though so it probably hurt more than say a false start. It negated some pretty big plays for us. Negated a 15 yard pass play deeper into A&M teritory on a 1st/10, not the end of the world as we still later scored a TD on that drive but holding to negate a 15 yard pass play definitely will get you dinged somewhat hard. It ended up 1st/20 on our own 45 yard line instead of 1st/10 on the A&M 30 for that play. When you look at it that way it really was more like a 25 yard penalty.
Then the running down the field 10 yards to block someone on a pass play that negated a TD, that was a big one. We still scored a TD once again, but those 2 penalties are pretty big ones they will ding you for when the outcome could have been so much different.
I said after the game if this was a close game and both those penalties negated any points for us, people would have been a LOT harder on Satterwhite because those were some big ones. Not to hit hard on the guy but those were definitely not just some 1st/10 false start type of penalties

I'm no expert, but Bordelon looks pretty good run blocking and not good pass blocking. Satterwhite looked ok in both, but I wouldn't say good in either.
No easy answer here. It might come down to the more cerebral of the two that can function within the system better e.g. high tempo, understand audibles/checks better, etc.
Penalties are also a good way to lose this battle, so Satterwhite needs to clean that up.

Bordelon is a much better run blocker. You hope with experience he can become a better pass blocker. So it's not like last year when Chester and mugabi sucked at both.

Which will not tell us alot should he play. Play against a Kentucky or Miss St to see if he can handle that position.

He asked for a comparison, so I gave him one. It sounds like the OP watched the game so if he was just looking for a comparison based on “watching the game” he wouldn’t be asking for a comparison.
PFF grades aren’t the end all be all. OP can ignore them if he wants. I was just giving him a comparison.
