Sage Ryan is not a CB. He also doesn't have the size.
Sage Ryan, 5'11", 202 lbs
Tre White, 5'11", 192 lbs
Denzel Ward, 5'11", 190 lbs
If you want to say that Ryan can't cover as well, fine, but he's not too small to play corner.
The average NFL corner is only 6'0".
Wasting your time arguing here.

Idk what to expect at this point...
Welch was "The guy" in the spring.
Toviano was getting a lot of buzz in the beginning of the summer.
Duce was getting CB1 hype early in camp.
Stamps was CB3 two weeks ago.
Now Sage Ryan supposedly moved from Safety to the boundary CB spot for whatever reason...

What are you talking about? Average size of CB in the league is 6'0 195 lbs. Sage is 5'11" 200lb
If he ends up not being a lockdown corner, it won't be due to the 1-2" he lacks in height.

Coaches gonna coach, baws.

To this point, he is just another head case and a weak one at that.

None. We added 5 transfers, the additions are more talented than the departures from last season. Brooks, Burns and Ryan all have started games.
I would say this defense has more talent and playmakers that at this same time last season.

How concerned are yall with CB
I'd say concerned to quite concerned.
I think on paper it's a weakness. And, reading between the lines and listening to the chatter and coachspeak that has come out confirms that weakness.
I think the most likely path to success is growth from guys that are currently running 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

It’s a bigger issue than people on here want to admit. You can scheme around it somewhat and I think we see a lot of zone which MH likes to run anyway. Safety play will make or break us on the back end. We can’t have communication issues like we’ve had in the past which leads to Safeties out of position. Hopefully Zy adjusts to the speed at this level quickly.

In a vacuum, more worried about safety, and covering the deep part of the field.
Their WR's are a bit one dimensional, but that dimension is getting vertical. So that is what worries me.

The best DBs can’t stop a QB with all day to pass. So long as we have Harold Perkins and a great D Line, I’m confident we will be just fine. The best pass defense is a great pass rush. If we can’t rush the passer you could have 2 All Americans back there and a top QB will still torch us.

Don't know what to expect. Best to wait till Sunday and enjoy the game.

Sage Ryan is not 5'11. He's more like 5'9. Chestnut is also extremely small and should be at nickel.

anyone saying no is being ignorant by choice
CB is a major concern. no high level talent at the position besides denver and he is a head case. We will see major issues there all season.

In fact, 5/7 of our CBs are 6ft and under while only 2 are 6'1" and 6"2'.

He doesn't know the position. Doesn't mean he can't learn. BK said the move was made due to speed.

Your definition of shredded & mine isn't the same..... 20/33 260 yds. 7.9 avg. 2 TDs.

Not as concerned as many are here. I think people are forgetting that Zy Alexander and Deuce Chesnut are stud players. Ashton Stamps has wowed, and Denver Harris was playing like an All American last year at A&M.

Concerned? N’ah. If you can’t cover, blitz. Make the QB beat you from his backside.
Posted on 8/30/23 at 10:30 am to boweswi05
Utmost concern. Worried that it could be almost 2020 bad. Concerned that we don’t have the horses there and frankly, have failed recruiting that position recently. As well as defensive tackle but that’s for a different thread on a different day.

Ryan was moved to CB to make room for Andre Sam at safety.
Ryan to CB, Greg Brooks to nickle, Sam to S
You don’t know that
