I can’t wait. Long overdue. The tailgating and camaraderie will be outstanding.

Plus the human juke box and silver belles! They will be out to impress. Wonder if the southern band will get to play at halftime. If so I hope they blare some neck!

Never forget, Wayde Sims.

tulane doesn't want to play LSU, why should LSU fans be demanding that the two teams play? Plus, as noted in an earlier thread, no way LSU gives up the millions it makes for each home game to play in a 40K semi high school stadium, with a minimal guarantee. Though it would be funny to see Up Town N.O. flooded with thousands of your typical LSU tail gators.

Not only for Southern but for LSU recruiting and optics as a whole
LSU recruiting is not going to be affected one iota, especially with Brian Kelly's academic requirements. Southern is lucky it is still even operable under the NCAA.

I was pretty anti the idea — my argument was that 97% of the stadium would be filled by people coming no further than New Orleans. Then a co-worker brought up the fact that we’ve played Southeastern and they’re a small local school. So I’ve warmed up to the game.
It’s too bad it’s too early in the season for other sports. Would have been a nice doubleheader with LSU-SU basketball game earlier in the day or a baseball/softball exhibition game.

Southern was better than LSU before integration little boy.

From 1947-50, Southern went 34-0-2. So they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.

Cool, during WW II, Southern won games.

don’t see where you got that was the logic of his argument/statement. He said it’s a good look to schedule a HBCU school, especially one in the same city.
Well, being we have already scheduled and played McNeese, SLU, NW State, and now Southern it appears to be a trend that is developing to play D2 Schools. It’s 1 thing to play ULL, ULM, and La Tech which are FBS level schools but playing D2 teams like SWAC teams is something LSU does not need to do. What benefit is it to LSU?
None.
Last, why is it a “good look” to schedule an HCBU school? You want to appease who exactly? Explain that.

This is exactly why LSU does not need to schedule Southern or any HBCU. To say you are living in the past is an understatement.
In reality HBCUs should be done away with. We can’t have historically White Universities. The entire Integration movement was so everyone could attend any school. Now that has been achieved we still have this group of schools which constantly harp on being HBCU. OK so LSU, Bama, Georgia, and the entire SEC were Historically White but nobody calls them HWCUs or tries to make the school’s identity a focus on race. It’s tired.

Name the last season LSU did not play an FCS team.
ETA: excluding the covid season of 2020 which had Nicholls St. scheduled pre Covid.

I’m hyped! I know a lot of great alumna of SU and they’re all excited to see their jags play in legendary TS.

Really the only bad thing is it doesn't bring in money for the city as far as out of town tourists but that's negligible anyway
LSU will destroy Southern and it will be a good opportunity for them to play under the big lights
