Our special teams are terrible and need to be fixed, but no he isn’t the worst coordinator in the country. That “honor” goes to Brian Ferentz.

serious question how are any of these the coaches fault?

Its his job to make sure all the players understand and do their job. it'd be one thing if it was one guy messing up here or a missed tackle there. Its not. Our coverage units are all over the place giving up huge lanes, our FG team wasn't even coached basic blocking principles that JV teams know. We have returners jumping into crowds to down a ball that was basically stopped.

To put it simple, if one guy messes up, its on the player. If Everyone messes up, its on the coach.

We have watched really good special teams for the last 5 years, when properly coached our athletes have proven they can be dangerous on special teams.

I'm not even asking for dangerous, just not being a liability would suffice.

hell no players aren't taught to block from outside to inside.

This is proof that the players weren't coached at all. If you spend 5 minutes coaching this, you don't make that mistake. it looked like He just threw up his hands and said "Everyone kicks FGs, they'll know what to do."

The point is, his unit is terrible and he's the coach.

outside of the 2 muffs and 2 blocks how are they terrible? I saw the Bengals get 2 kicks blocked a week ago and they have one of the best kickers in the NFL...the line missed blocks and allowed penetration. I guess their ST coach sucks??

it's consistent because his ND units struggled too

ND ranked higher than LSU from 2019-2021

Add in we had very good STs past few years until they changed coaches HMMM I wonder what it could be.

could be that you don't know shite...see my previous answer

That means there are several ST coordinators worse than he is.

Without looking at the actual teams below us, I would imagine their special teams aren't filled with caliber of athlete that LSU has on hand.

There is no reason we shouldn't be able to cover kicks at an acceptable rate.

2 muffs: picked the wrong returner. Coaching

2 Blocks: Didn't teach fundamentals and lost us the game. Coaching.

2 big punt returns at MSU: first guys wild nd whiff and rest of coverage unit is out of their lanes and they get gashed. Coaching.

1 potential game changing kick return that was graciously called back: the coverage still sucked cuz guys aren't in their lanes and running together. To many seams. Coaching.

Thats 7 breakdowns in 3 games but really only 2 games cuz southern was terrible.

you have no idea what they were taught...they made a change during the game and a freshman fricked up on the PAT

Please tell me how our ST have been better than ND in recent years or are you just full of shite and talking about something you don't know?

Don't forget the dumbass jumping on the ball for a few yards in a situation we didn't need it. He almost turned the ball over. That's coaching too.

I'm sure we could find some worse if we actually bother to look.

That's why this hyperbolic crap is dumb. It's bad...but no, it's probably not THE worst.

No, he is not. Looks like players not executing to me more than coaching.

Move him to a personnel position and hire a ST coordinator. I

If Polian isn't ST coordinator he's either outright fired or moved to another coaching position.

He HAS to be an on-field coach for recruiting. He's here for recruiting first, second, third, and fourth. STs comes in maybe like 6th or 7th.

The players look like they don't have a clue. When everyone looks lost, thats on the coach.

There’s no question the ST’s coaching should be questioned, but some of this is on the players.
The coach didn’t muff punts, kick off bad or think the ball hit our guy when it did not,

But I do look at the coach when FG blocking keeps bress as king down, returners keep advancing on us, and we keep making the same mistakes on coverage situations.

His buddy Denbrock? You mean the one he demoted and ran off to Cincinatti? You really think BK is friends with these people? He is a cold-blooded SOB who will put them in the ground if needed. Maybe wait more than a couple games before accusing him of cronyism.
