I have a buddy that is a huge ND fan and he texted me mid game to say that he forgot to tell me that Brian Kelly's teams always suck on special teams.
If it took mid way into the 3rd game - after all that's happened so far - to contact you with this info I'd have to say he's just piling on.
Oh, and kisses to...errrrr...firm handshake to Agent Starling for services rendered.

Either there is a tremendous drop in talent on special teams or he is the reason! I suspect it’s the later !

It isn’t hyperbole. Our special teams is ranked #125 in the country. This includes a blocked punt for a safety and a forced fumble on a kickoff return vs southern. It is unquestionably one of the 10 worst units in all of America, which is really saying something considering we have had great special teams play even through our down years the last 2 years. The regression under Polian is Pelini-esque.

For reference, in 2020 we were ranked 23rd, and in 2021 16th

2019 - 12th
2020 - 23rd
2021 - 16th
2022 - 125th

Show me the stats for every coordinator in the country first. I didn't make a bold statement with anything to back it up. It's up to the OP and his knights like you to provide evidence of his claim before requiring it of others.

The proof is in the play. Too many mistakes have been made in these 3 games. Polian is not good, in all aspects, personnel decisions and scheme. This will continue to be a problem.

We kicked Mcmahon to the curb for this guy..

It's truly incredible and the only coach that needs to be demoted so far

Kelly cannot spend a majority of his time the week of preparation to focus on punt coverages and extra point blocking. It has to be done by the ST coordinator.

AND HES THE WORST

I see Kelly holding everyone except his two buddies accountable. Denbrock and Polian are the weak links in this coaching staff

It's hard to fault Denbrock when WRs are open on nearly every play. Run game was always going to be a challenge until we get the right OL combo and it looks like they found it.

This season was always going to be a rebuild with new staff, transfers and young players. What we need to see is steady improvement and outside a ST issue the O and D are progressing well.

Well we are 125th in special teams and I already listed the long and growing list of special teams frick ups through 3 games.

Below is the LSU special teams stats over the past 5 years. Are we to believe that LSU has significantly worse athletes this year?

serious question how are any of these the coaches fault?

this happens in the nfl and college...pretty sure every coach tells the returner to stand on 10 and don't go backwards but they still do it

Show me another unit that performs as poorly as his special teams. Anywhere. Our special teams fail in every way possible. There’s no excuse

Don't know about worst but he's pretty shitty and has no business heading a unit at a major university like LSU. Nepotism at it's finest.

We will absolutely lose another game because of ST at some point this season possibly multiple. I like the BK hire but he has to get his head of his arse hiring BBQ buddies like Denbrock/Polian. I supported the moves because coach knows best but I certainly questioned them at first. Both are showing their ugly heads early in the season.

It’s called coaching. A mistake here or there and it’s the player. Mistakes in every phase means coaching. Dog shite coaching.

Understood. I wasn't all serious about it, Agent Mack.

so a player muffing 2 punts...kicker kicking it out of bounds are coaching? Also it was pretty clear the 2 blocked kicks were not coaching mistakes but players choosing to block the outside guy instead of the inside guy...i seriously doubt he teaches something no other coach teaches.

you can't be dumb enough to think coaches don't all teach the same techniques. But i could be wrong...tell how a player missing an assignment, muffing a kick, dropping passes, fumbling, etc is coaching and not on the player? Every game I watch returners do idiotic things...Miami punt returner tried to field a ball after it bounced when he could have caught it before it bounced...you think that is coaching?
