Chase is an exception because he was already recognized as the top receiver in the country as a sophomore. He also was on a national championship team that some say was the greatest offensive team ever. He also played against three corners who are now starting in the NFL and he got the best of every one of them. I dare say there will be very little chance of this ever happening again.

Christian McCaffery already set this in motion when he opted out of Stanford's bowl game a few years back an wasn't injured.

Honestly, the trend originated when Jaylon Smith tore up his knee several years back and dropped from a top 5 pick into the 2nd round.

Whether Chase gets selected before or after Smith doesn't matter. He will go off the board in the 1st round and that's all that future LSU players will see.

Chase quit on us

Eeven if he was on the team he would've been suspended for more than half the season. He got popped for weed and didn't want that getting too public. Been alluded to by the talking heads numerous times.

Well that's kinda what im saying it's not the ncaa problem. Up the the individual to find a paying football team/league that will pay them to play football at a highschool or freshman or sophomore age.

Hopefully those kids get a 4 years of school paid for by the g league in a contract or something or else when one blows out a knee it's game over.

This stuff happens then college football will be better and a less corrupt game. I hope football never gets as nasty as basketball. I like how college baseball is run and it does not seem near as corrupt but I don't follow baseball or understand it that well

So you want a guy who quit on their home state to get drafted higher than the guy who came to LSU and represented the state? I say frick Smith!! He's a damn groupie who went to a rival school.

and a company (or league) should be free to set a minimum employment age.

LOL no they won't. I don't know why it's so hard to understand why kids opted out with a raging pandemic going on, and family members getting covid, and in some cases dying.

Just forget about 2020, nothing good comes from rehashing it. We got fricked when Brennan got hurt. Period. Cost us at least 2 games and possibly 3. 7-3 or 8-2 completely changes the view of the season. We have two chances to have a stud QB taking snaps, so as long as the defense plays just 50% better than last year we win 10+ games easily.

No we don't. And you hoping any Alabama player gets drafted ahead of any LSU player makes me doubtful.

This has nothing to do with Smith or Chase. This was always going to happen since bowl games outside of the playoffs have become meaningless and players stand to gain nothing by playing games that have no impact on their future millions.
