The only real “blue blood” threat at this point is Indiana if Archie Miller doesn’t turn it around.

I agree, but I just posted in another post (a Long post by me about blue bloods Tier 1 and 2) that Indiana is on a life line for blue blood status. They are basically out but I gave them 2 decades after Knight left in 2000. It takes decades to build to blue blood status and I feel it should take a lot of time to fall out of that status.

So, Wade may just say I will build LSU into a blue blood and not try to save or bring Indiana back to that level, as I am already at LSU

We will find out soon enough what kind of AD Joe really is. The blue bloods of CBB are about to be knocking his door down.

We were in the early 80s too.

Don't think that we weren't.

Athletics gives 30 million to academics every year. They can take from that for all I am concerned. LSU is one of the very few schools that robs from athletics.

And over time, that investment would bring way more to academics anyway. All those new buildings popping up around campus are directly related to the decade+ run of football success. Basketball could do the same for the university.

I agree. But we don't have the prestige of having the most national championships in basketball like UCLA does.

SEC TV $$$ > PAC12 TV $$$

The PAC12 is a cluster frick at the moment. LSU can outbid UCLA. Will knows he can build a great program here. I expect LSU to make a major investment once the season is over.

You and I remember that, but none of these kids playing were even born the last time UCLA won a natty. You can win anywhere now, just ask Nebraska football about being a blueblood

I totally agree. Was just bringing that up in response to football school vs basketball school comment from another poster.

OMG that hurts to even think about. Surely a couple of 6th year seniors are!

I think Alleva has a good grasp of the situation.
He really doesn’t need the rubes on an Internet forum telling him about Wade’s value or what it will take to keep Wade.
It won’t be money that lures Wade from LSU.

Just like he had a good grasp on the Duke lacrosse team, Miles debacle, Florida hurricane game, and "The Search"?

Alleva's top 2 choices for the job were Mike Brey and Eric Musselman. Luckily, they weren't interested.
You must not follow college basketball. Musselman is 105-31 at Nevada, and is 24-2 this year. He would’ve been a very good coach for us.

That's great. Not sure I remember you the last 10+ years of basketball here.

How is that relevant? I wasn’t on this site at all until a couple years ago. I was an LSU student during the CJ and Shaq years and have followed LSU hoops as close as anyone on the planet since.

I never said Musselman wouldn't be a good coach for LSU. He's a damn good coach. I was just a bigger fan of the choice of a younger coach with higher potential upside like Wade.

Would you have rather had Musselman?
