Based on the NCAA's interpretation of its own rule, time should have expired after the spike

You aren’t reading it correctly.

If you have less than 3 it isn’t possible to spike the ball and still have time for another play.

If you have 3 or more, you can legally attempt it, but it isn’t guaranteed if you dick around and take too much time on the spike.

A&M had 3, therefore enough time to attempt the spike and still have another play.

I don’t honestly remember how much time was left.

There was only a second left. We were literally retarded to try and spike it in that game.

MOT, I corrected my original assessment. I believe the refs got this call right.

ben, they reviewed the play, and there was still time on the clock when he spiked it...therefore, there was greater than 0:00 on the clock and they should get another play

Chicken the clock doesn't stop when the ball touches a blade of grass.

The worst call of the night was the first down ruling on the 4th and 16 play

It was 4th and 18 and this has also been debunked.

The yellow line was two yards off.

LOS - just before 39
First down - 43
Player was down just before the 41.

IE - it was actually almost a 20 years pass, the graphic was wrong.

That’s why Ed O didn’t challenge it.

Again, this is not college basketball with tenths of seconds on the clock.

do you think the tenths of a second do not exist just because they don’t show on a scoreboard?

examples if there is 0.3 seconds of actual time left on a clock:
Basketball clock will show 0.3 seconds. You will see exactly how many tenths are left.
Football clock will show 1 second. You don’t know if there is exactly 1 second, or what fraction of 1 second is left. But those fractions still actually exist and clock counts them. You just don’t see them on the board.

they don't exist in football because of the massive expense of changing the huge scoreboards used in football stadiums.

Dang it, I meant to use my 5000th post to ask you if we could discuss the 2011 locker room issue again.

It does in the last few seconds. Even you're smart enough to know that.

Which means the clock is not zero

If it hadn't have read zero they wouldn't have had to put a second back on. The game was over. The rule is clear. I don't see how anyone can see it any differently.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why people keep skimming over this part of the rule

Refs got it right

The clock was running when they were trying to snap it, it wasn’t a ‘dead ball’ like after a penalty or something

The whole 3 second rule is pointless, yet people keep arguing about it

It wasn't an insult. I said you're smart enough to know the difference. It was a compliment.

What does that have to do with whether you have time to spike it in a timely manner.

What does the rule say about tenths of a second. If there's less than a second should a full second be added?

What about 1/10th of one second? Do you round it up to a full second?

Is it addressed in the rulebook?

From the rule I read it is not and the game is over.

There was 1/10th of one second showing on the clock that was flashed on the TV on the replay Saturday night. Do you round it up to one second?

On replay the best they could do is 1/10th of a second. The game was over.

I thought I told you to frick off. There was nothing wrong with the discussion but you had to be the one because you want to be a piece of shite.

No doubt he prodded you a bit, but you gotta shake that off. You melted after a prod.

You never melt after a prod.
