I have a theory that the widespread optimism among LSU fans for this game has a couple of root causes:
1. Most LSU fans worship TRUMP and think their lives have never been better
2. Beating UGA by 20 points
Those two things say on an emotional level to LSU fans, that the good times will just keep on rolling no matter any evidence to the contrary.

it's because we do have a chance to win. this LSU team is better than recent teams & is better prepared to play. we have talent, which mixed with heart & courage will overcome 'bama. geaux tigers!

A better questions would have been "how are we supposed to win this game."
Tiger fans are just surmising over the possibility of winning not the probability of "supposed to".
Why go into it why the idea that we have no chance? Why bother to watch? Because shite happens. The ball bounces funny. Maybe we hit on a few explosive plays. Maybe Bama fumbles when a few times.
Teams sometimes statistically bury another team but lose the game because of turnovers or breakdowns.
I don't expect us to win but it's possible.

We're not supposed to beat them, but I'm optimistic. Our Tigers have something Bama will never have. Yeah, Bama has the process, but this bunch of Tigers have heart and you can see the brotherhood amongst them; how they seem to play for one another. Sometimes Heart wins out. I like our chances

Tiger stadium is going to help a lot. This might be the loudest game we have had. Everyone is sick of Bama’s b.s. and the stadium will be electric. Is Bama 20 points better than UGA? Because that is what they will need to be in order to win this game.
