It’s not applying high football or baseball standards for a coach that’s been at a program for 15 years. That’s plenty enough time to know if a coach has stagnated a program, which Beth has.
I would agree that LSU is not a top 5 program, but you don’t need to be a top 5 program in Softball to make it to the WCWS every so often. As I have mentioned in multiple posts across multiple threads, LSU has not even been close to competitive in 5 straight super regionals. I just don’t understand how people throw her recent results into the wind unless they just do give a shite about the sport.
Beth has done less with more than any other coach in the sport. And honestly I think the LSU brand carries what little success she has had the last decade. A new coach with a fire for recruiting could easily do a better job.

Not close in last 5 supers? Final game vs Stanford and Nija tied 0-0 going to the 5th isn’t close ? 2019 they get beat 5-3, 3-0 by 7th seed , that’s a close series..we have another Beth Derangement Syndrome person

This just isn’t true.
In its most recent SR before this year (2024), LSU beat a higher ranked Stanford, on the road, in game 1 against that beast of a pitcher, and was in a 0-1 game heading into the in the 7th inning in game 2. Then it was in a 0-0 game heading to the 5th in game 3 before the wheels came off.
Why lie?

Always on the cusp….you just wait till next year. What an idiotic statement. I’ll assume that most of the people here griping about where the softball team currently is, goes through the ASA Gold, PGF, IDT, Surf City Classics or whatever the new flavor of the month organization is. Has seen the level of competition outside of La and knows exactly what we can be. You can argue that we made it further than some but there is no doubt that we have been passed over by Arkansas, A&M and with Rickets at Miss St, they’re on our heels. Not to mention that we have always been behind Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and we sit there and flirt with the Missouris, Ole Miss, Soith Carolina. But keep on accepting Mediocrity because that is definitely where we have lived for the last 9 years.
Yayyyy, we got out of our own regional, someone give this man a cookie.

Passed over by a team that in the last 4 post seasons has only survived a regional once and lost as the overall #1 seed for the only time in history.. thats some good stuff you smokin bruh
Posted on 6/4/26 at 12:57 pm to Casualobserver1985
You mean that team was good enough to garner a #1 overall seed? I wonder what that feels like?
Posted on 6/4/26 at 1:19 pm to ropesmoknrednek
Who cares got beat by Liberty and couldn’t get out yr 1 and yrs 3 and 4.. lol

I guess the people that don’t care have no expectations for us to ever be in that position. Congratulations, we’re exactly where you want us to be.

They just respect the challenge. They aren't like you who think it's a birthright to be a top softball school.
This isn't football or baseball. What is your argument for why you think LSU is underachieving? What do you think LSU naturally has that makes a top 15 level program below where it should be?

Underachieving = Never won anything of any significance since Beth has been coach.
SEC Title = 0
SEC Tourney = 0
National Champs = 0
Is one SEC title too much to ask?
10 different SEC tourney champs and 6 different overall champs since she’s been here.
Included in the two titles are Ole Miss, A&M, Arkansas, and Auburn.
Is it too much to ask to win one?
I would say that is underachieving, when the bare minimum expectation is hosting a regional because by default middle of the pack SEC gets to host.

No, underachieving means not having the program at a level that it should be. Your definition is way off. It might explain why your conclusions.

The SEC is LOADED. Saying you should win the SEC is like saying you should be the best team in the nation. It's retarded to think that failing to do that is underachieving.

How many Tiger rant followers can name 9 softball players? I can’t name 9 from the past decade. I want to win, but that’s where I am. It just doesn’t matter that much.

Exactly this.
What everybody says the SEC is in football and baseball is actually what it is in softball. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma there is literally not another conference that is anywhere close. You have some outlier good teams like Texas Tech and UCLA, but a .500 SEC team is one of the nation's best teams.
It would be great for LSU to win the SEC, make it to the WS, etc. But the kicking and screaming because she lost in a super to Bama is ridiculous. There is zero doubt that LSU has had some disappointing exits from the post season. There may even be truth that the program has topped off with Beth. But that topping off is still way better than most. Beating a really good team twice a season seems great, but it's a different animal when you have to do it every weekend.
At this point who would you get to coach that would instantly be better, that is realistic to get? You can risk it on an up and coming coach who has done more with less. But that could go very poorly whenever that coach has to experience the SEC weekly.
Fact of the matter is, LSU isn't putting max resources into softball. I would say they are at, or above, the level of what they are putting in.

However, softball isn't important or high enough in the pecking order to warrant buying out her contract, so Queen Softball Nikkii will be around for two more seasons.

Hopefully that means NIL is being taken away from softball and moved to football/baseball
You’re getting a lot of downvotes but there’s probably some truth that cuts are coming to certain sports. You’re going to see a lot of athletic depts prioritizing certain sports where they can compete. West Virginia in baseball for example.
Women’s softball & basketball are easy targets unless they have specific donors who care about those two sports.

[But the kicking and screaming because she lost in a super to Bama is ridiculous]
I don’t think this is the reason at all…at least for me. Add the last 8 seasons and that’s where my gripe lies.
[You can risk it on an up and coming coach who has done more with less. But that could go very poorly whenever that coach has to experience the SEC weekly.]
Which is exactly what we did with Beth. I’d be willing to take that chance to get us out of the rut we’re in, or we can continue to spin our wheels.
[With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma there is literally not another conference that is anywhere close.]
You are absolutely correct. What’s the excuse for no titles of any kind the 12 years before that?
