Disclaimer-I think he was a great hire and will do very well at LSU. However...

He did not look confident on Sunday. My dad(casual fan) even commented, "Does he actually do any coaching? Why is he just standing there looking lost". Is that just how he is? I thought I remembered more fire from him at ND. Just curious what yall's thoughts were.

I saw a few times he looked like he was visibly upset. Also heard on the broadcast them mention a couple times that Kelly was letting the officials have it. I feel like this is being a little overblown. I also think he understands that our roster isn’t the greatest this year so he can only do so much. There are definitely coaching improvements that can be made. But at the end of the day you can only do so much with this roster.

My main change I would like to see is more faith in the secondary on third down. They held up much better than I think any of us could have expected. It’s time for House to trust them a little more and play more aggressively on third downs.

What behaviors or mannerisms would have made you happy?

You think? So many of ya'll have loss your damn minds just trying to find something. There was plenty to be upset with with the play on the field, Kelly's fascial expressions isn't one of them.

He knows better than anyone on this board what his team's weaknesses are. So while many here were dreaming of a 10 and 11 win season, he knows this is a work in progress. It's not his first time taking over a program that needs some rebuilding. So in game one he probably figured patience is a better approach that constantly losing your shite on guys who may not be able to perform to the eventual standards you expect.

Miles trotted out to his first game (albeit in TS), with a ear bud headphone/mic. He never did that again.

Yeah, I really don't get criticism or observations like this.

IMO he thinks/knows he has a fragile team and doesn't want to break them.

Also, a large % of that was on the staff.

Can you plot a chart with coaching demeanor on the x-axis and wins on the y-axis. We need to objectively understand what the right demeanor is.

Maybe Coach Kelly can coach from a private room in the press box and we can set up a Coach Kelly mannequin on the sidelines with the perfect demeanor and that way he will have the perfect demeanor on every camera shot. That is a sure path to 15-0.

They underestimated Florida State.

We looked lost and confused.

That being said, the man took over a 39 player roster. This is a complete rebuild.

I think he's struggling with guys buying in. Happens when a new guy comes in and you have some head cases.

I saw plenty of coaching.

For example. When the review was happening before the last play you could see him telling the offense that the whistle is when Dellinger would snap it and they need to be set ready to go before the ref gets away from the ball. That’s coaching and understanding and knowing the situation. No way Les or O are ready for that scenario.

Florida State moronically called a timeout negating this.

FFS this has been the most idiotic running take since that game.

Some of you need to go watch cartoons.

He was watching his OL be destroyed on pretty much every play. And it wasn’t unexpected.

HisbQB either isn’t able to read defenses and throw in time…or is already broken due to the constant pressure he sees.

Some of you are just fishing for shite to gripe about. He looked like a coach who wasn’t seeing on the field what they drilled in practice. You can blame part of that on coaching, and he owned that after the game. You can also put part of it on an overhauled roster not being ready for the bright lights and a tough matchup in game one. It wasn’t all one or the other.

As for what Kelly did on the sidelines, what do you guys expect? He stayed on the refs, as he should have for their frick ups. That crap with the review in the goal line was absolute bullshite and every college football talking head on Twitter torched them for it. He didn’t just sit back and take it like O.

As for the team, the last thing Kelly needs to be doing with the current roster is ripping into guys on the sidelines. It’s a fairly young, makeshift roster without a lot of established player leadership yet. He’s trying to get these guys to buy into a new system and way of doing things. Publicly ripping them in game one for every mistake would kill any chance of that happening. Any of you wanting or expecting that are fools.

I don’t think they underestimated them at all. One team looked like it had played a game and one team didn’t.

But, you’re 100% correct in the total rebuild. The expectations of winning the west and being a 9-10 win team is unrealistic. We have literally been a 6 win football team for a couple of years now.. people gotta understand that, we haven’t been good for a long time.
