Have we ever played an official game against Southern U in fb?

7In next year’s FB schedule, the 2nd game is against Southern U. It just made me wonder if we’ve ever faced off. I don’t remember it happening. There might all sorts of reasons for it not happening. But maybe it has. Does anyone know?

I’m actually pretty excited about that game. It’s going to be a blowout, but I’m looking forward to Kelly’s first home game and seeing the Southern band.

Plus what’s the difference between scheduling Southern over Northwestern State? I’ll tell you, nothing at all. Just get a better halftime show and crowd with southern.

Wd should only play schools in our class. No Southern, McNeese, Nicholls or etc. They aren’t allowed 85 scholarships. They don’t have the facilities like we have. They are completely outmanned.

Idk those small schools benefit a lot from the big games, gives our guys a game to work out kinks and get in a groove, and it’s not like the committee cares if we play Jacksonville State or Southern, it’s all just cupcake FCS win so

We should play Tulane every year. Period. End of story. No discussion. Home and away. Money isn’t everything. As Tevya says “Tradition”.

What’s the point of playing non-SEC games?
I’m ready for the SEC to add a few more schools, drop out if the NCAA, play a 10-game ALL-SEC schedule, and then have their own 8-team playoff and crown their own National Champion.

No SEC school is going to miss out on playoffs based on strength of schedule. Do you want us to only play P5 schools? We give tons of money to lots of out of state schools. I see no reason we should not give it to a school that is in the same city at least once every 50-75 years. Utah State and South Alabama and Rice and Western Kentucky are not exactly strengthening our schedule, nor are they keeping money here like we can do with a Southern game.
