In my humble opinion, they’re being especially hard on Curne because he’s the best talent of the IOL options and want to get him ready. He’s the best option and I hope the light bulb goes on so he can start at guard.

Seems like coaches would have figured that out last year. He just wasn’t good.

I understand we had four OL drafted and I expected a slight drop off, but it's like we've driven straight off a cliff.
Straight off a Cliff and directly into a big Shite Hole.

Coaching Shite Hole and Talent Shite Hole.

Hopefully Sloan will scheme around the OL deficiency a la BRADY with BURROW. (GET THE FRICKING BALL OUT OF NUSSMEIER'S HAND VERY FAST!)

A ton of people on this board may have said that. But this board is not an accurate reflection of either reality or public sentiment.

That's fair. I certainly think that there a lot of people not on this board that thought Matt House was the answer.

Fair enough. The premise I was responding to was that the run blocking last year wasn't good (it wasn't) AND that we lost good personnel. If you're concerned about the inability to run block by personnel last year, you can't logically carry that concern into a new personnel grouping.

I get that. But if you think coaching and/or scheme has something to do with it, and you also lose talent, there's reason for concern.

No. Are you acting like any college football coordinator can install a new defensive scheme in one off-season?

I think an elite coordinator can certainly improve production on one side of the ball in an offseason, especially when they have talent. LSU went from the 67th ranked passing offense in 2018 to the 2nd ranked passing offense in 2019 with basically all of the same players. LSU jumped 47 spots in total defense in Baker's first year.

If neither Mubenga nor Chester is the answer at left guard, then who is?

Also, if Chester wins the starting job, will he improve as the year progresses,, since he didn't play any at guard last season?

Okay, I caught the post about Curne. I could see him playing some at left guard this season.

Even if he needs to learn, we need push. We need push from the guards. We didn't get that last year. They got their shite pushed in. And he is strong as an ox

Its very rare to start a true freshman week 1 on the road. He probably earns a starting position at some point in the season but to throw him in week 1 is not the answer. If this was a home game or a neutral site game then it would be very likely he starts I just don't think they are going to do that on the road week 1 and for good reason.

Sloan is planning to use the passing game to open the run. He wants to develop and display explosiveness on the outside so they they can keep a safety more than 3' from the LOS.

If Chester is the weak link on this line, that would be very very bad.

Moscano has been reporting on every play from the scrimmages as long as media is,allowed. More than just 10 plays.

WOW! You are a genius! Our coaches who coached, watched and are with Chester and Echols everyday know less about how Chester and Echols looked in practice than you do. Brush up your resume and apply for OL coach.

Both guards and the center got pushed around last year and the two all world tackles could not block at all on run plays. Appeared no one really knew what to do, blocking schemes were non existent and everyone knew what we were going to run before the play started.

[quote]Actually that’s bullshite, he’s had a better camp than Thompson. And nobody has been able to stop Gooden.[/quote

This is not a criticism, but how do you know this? Is there a video somewhere you’re watching? Again, not criticizing just asking.

Still sounds like we are mostly running the same run schemes as last year. My opinion is BK needs to command Sloan to give Atkins total control over the run game. Sloan is a QB coach and passing game guru. Let someone with ground game chops design the run game.
