Jeff Landry is the last fricking person that should be talking about taxpayers footing the bill for anything.

He just went to Turks & Caicos on taxpayer dime, his wife has a full staff yet she’s up his arse everyday, he’s remodeling the governors mansion, wrote in a new plane for state police (himself) in the budget bill this last session…I mean the list goes on

Woodward was not going to pull the trigger on a $54 million buyout without having donors agreement. The governor needs to do his job of running the state ranked in the bottom in almost every category there is a ranking for.

A lot of the rant are leftist...they'll hate landry no matter what.

He did a good job of leading IMO. He's not made any picks and has hit the nail on the head with the BK problem and how we created it with the stupid deals we signed under the AD and hopefully going forward we'll not make that mistake again.

I would bet the vast majority are not. It's hard for idiots who are far left and far right to fathom that someone can vote republican while not liking the person they voted for at all. Rational people don't just blindly follow their party and agree with everything the do like the far right and left do. If you find yourself defending this idiot the last 2 days, you are a blind moron.

The hatred comes from a non-political point of view that has been formed by an uniformed selfish asshat going on national tv spewing bullshite about something he knows nothing about, and should have nothing to do with.

He needs to stick to be the governor. The state of Louisiana has enough issues he needs to be working on.

Wtf is op talking about? Obviously it's on the state if someone doesn't offer to cover it.

It's always been state guaranteed... it's a state job, but there has been provisions for private money and LSU athletic foundation funding it. He is doing all of this stumping for one reason which is to get exposure. By the way the same thing happens at every state university. The main difference is that every other Governor is not trying to use the situation to get closer to Trump.

I, like the rest of you, lived in a reality where I thought the buyout is just a donor problem.

So you thought that if donors say “no thanks,” LSU just gets to walk away without paying a dime?

Do you really think the majority of people were under that impression? Because that’s retarded.

The coach is an employee of the athletic department. The athletic department is on the hook for his buyout. This should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. The thing is, the athletic department is self-sufficient and doesn’t rely on any taxpayer funding.

If donors refuse to pay the buyout, it doesn’t mean that the state will suddenly pay $53m. It means the athletic department will have to make cuts elsewhere to make it work.

If you want the state to explicitly be off the hook for any buyout that’s an issue to address under state law and internal LSU policies/procedures (by ensuring state funding can’t be used to alleviate an athletic department shortfall), not the head coach’s contract.

He stated that there is misinformation out there about the contract and that it is explicitly stated IN THE CONTRACT that if a donor does not step up to pay the buyout that the state of louisiana is on the bill.

Wasn’t the Gov holding a secret meeting discussing the buyout with the $$$ men and blessing the buyout? There is absolutely no need for this clown show.

Paying $50Mil from the state is not a big fricking deal.

Add it to my property taxes and take off funding the public library system and I’ll be happy

But he’s leaving out the part that BK would not have been fired so there would have been no buyout if a donor hadn’t agreed to pay it.
It is blatantly obvious that the State was never going to write a check. We may have sucked for a while.

Landry is not incorrect that these contracts are out of control, but what he is doing is not going to make the job more attractive, no matter how you look at it.

I agree with him that's an issue. And it sounds like he wants to ENSURE that the state DOESNT have to foot the bill.

It didn't for Les and it didn't for O. The state does not pay this. Just like it didn't pay for the new op building.

the buyout was secured from donors before he was fired.

That would have been a reasonable point to make.

That's not the point he made.

Why should the truth about that remain hidden? That is bad faith. Simple as that.
