The better one who stuck around the NFL for a long time as a backup played at N.C. State

Oklahoma can claim five based on how one goes about it:

Kyler Murray
Baker Mayfield
Jalen Hurts
Caleb Williams
Spencer Rattler

OK, change the narrative: 3 Heisman winners at the same time

And how could you forget about Billy Joe Hobart?

I also seem to recall one of the Huard boys had a long career as a backup with some starts sprinkled in

ULM/NLU did it back in the '90s with Stan Humphries, Doug Pederson, and Bubby Brister.

I bet there was a season when Matt Leinart, Matt Cassel and Carson Palmer all started

Wouldn't Mark Sanchez have also started during that time frame, as well?

It's not a surprise, if you're a good QB with the exceptional talent that a LSU always has, you can look like a Heisman candidate immediately. Nussmeir has improved tremendously in his second starting season just like I knew he would. Because Burrow and Daniels did the same and won Heismans because of LSUs tremendous WR talent all of the time.

Namath and Todd didn’t start at the same time. Hell Todd was also a Jet.

Namath was traded to the Rams in ‘77 where he was the starter and Todd became the starter for the Jets.

Also, in the early 70’s Purdue could claim Len Dawson, Bob Griese and Mike Phipps.

Bart Start played 16 years from ‘56 - ‘71. Maybe he played with the other two guys. IDK tho

Let’s tighten this up a little and go with QBs that are actually good and starting in the NFL
