I did not like him when he was recruiting against us. Don't remind me about the Janzen Jackson episode, although maybe we should thank him for that now.

Always have, even as far back when he was at Nicholls.

I can't remember any position coach creating this much of a stir. I like it and like him.

Bebe signed initially to play at LSU but ended up at nsu. Bad blood for a long long time. He has grown a lot and has come home when needed the most. All is forgiven.

No. The Joe McKnight recruitment comes to mind.

You say that as if its the same people that said that they thought he was a cancer and then approved the current hire. Seems kind of small minded to assume that.

Its probable that the people who said he was a cancer are not speaking at all.

I've had this LINK in my bookmarks forever. Hilarius.

That said, Coach O at LSU as DL coach and recruiting for us?

Mostly just the people labeled as "negatigers"! The "sunshine pumpers" would usually say something along the lines of, "Les isn't bringing in Coach O." or "We already have a DL coach." or " Why do so many rantards love Coach O?"

I myself, have always liked him bc of his ability to recruit and develop defensive linemen. He is definitely better than the previous coach at that position.

he was a huge joke around these parts when he was the HC in oxford. joining the super recruiting staff under kiffin at UTenn made him seem just as slimey as we all projected him to be

but he did a good job rehabbing his image at USC (no drama or bad stories) and then he did a great job as interim HC at USC

he is who we thought he is: a positional coach and recruiter. he accepts it now, so we do

this, too. i was going to go there but didn't want to get accused of "trolling"

i didn't "hate" frank but he was seem as the dirty/slimey recruiter that O was. he was a pure villain around here during the joe mcknight saga. "ya boy porter is a fake" or whatever

From ESPNGO: "Orgeron is fiercely proud of his Louisiana heritage. He earned a football scholarship to LSU out of high school but made it only two weeks before getting homesick and returning to Larose, where his father, Ba Ba (pronounced bey-bey), made him get a job digging ditches. He eventually ended up at Northwestern State, where he had a stellar career and was inducted into the school's hall of fame earlier this month. His oldest son, Tyler Spotts, currently attends LSU and works in the recruiting office."

I have always wanted him at LSU. When he was a possibility years ago I was very disappointed we didn't get him. That's when he went to tennessee with kiiffin but I understood why he did that bc of his USC ties with him.

Through the Oxford, UT, and USC years ... I pretty much thought he was a clown.

I guess we shall see.

Definitely. In fact, last year, on this board, there was a thread about assistant coaches that could help LSU. I posted that the two coaches that would help the most were Coaches O and Steele.

I still think he is of low moral character. I am just older than most of you, and have a long memory. Miles has run a squeaky clean program, but he will have to watch the moves O makes carefully. His knowledge of the game is not a question, but even USC wouldn't turn the reins over to him , as dirty a program as they run.i am sure that was the last thing in miles' mind when the hire was made.hopefully he will be a big plus to the program. I wonder if he can coach QBs.

Cant speak for the rest of the ranters, but I honestly didnt know much about O until he was at USC and then I began to love hearing him talk on tuesday mornings on 104.5.

Thats where I learned I really liked the guy and what he had to say and thought he would be a huge boost to the program.

Lets hope all of the "Probation follows him" is in the past and we dont get caught for having him recruit during the dead period.

All aboard the Coach O train.

Here's a thread asking how we would we feel if he was on board just a little over 2 years ago. The comments speak for themselves

I made a a thread on that thread poking fun at the recruiting board just for shits and giggles, but it was quickly whacked.

I think he's one of those guys you hate when he's against you and love it when he's with you.

Those insults were actually an homage to how good he is at his job.
