re: Harold Perkins didn't participate in any drills at the NFL combine today

He was good when healthy, some of you just put this ridiculous expectation on him because of a couple games his FR year. Yea he wasn't having games like he did vs arky every week, guess that makes him inconsistent.
He gets way too much hate here. Had he never had that Arky game I honestly think he would be thought of more highly. He stuck it out through an absolute shite season last year when he could've opted out and played his best football at the end of the year as he got further removed from the injury

Lots a lots of bad advice given to this kids from the zeros that advise them.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but frankly I forgot this guy even played for us last year. Not a way to get noticed for sure

With the way college football is now, I would argue that he has chest because he never transferred.
Won’t hate him just because he didn’t live up to his hype

He'll do every drill at the pro day. Half the guys don't participate in anything at the combine anymore. They go for interviews and measurements. That's it.
Not surprised you weren't aware of that though.
I wouldn't say half the guys don't. The ones that usually don't are coming off of injuries or are top prospects.

Feel free to name another LB that can boast, in 3 seasons:
35.5 TFL
17 sacks
8 FF
10 PBU’s
5 INTs

Literally got weighed and measured. No 40, no bench press, nothing. He's viewed as a round 3-4 pick. Could have made himself a lot of money with a good combine. Guess it makes sense given his inconsistency of effort at LSU.
It's strange for him because most would have assumed that his size is what he'd be worried the most about.
Maybe he came in ballooned up...and wants to run after he's had the chance to shed some of that weight?

There were like 9 guys who ran 40’s. It doesn’t matter AT ALL that he didn’t test at the combine
It’s about how well he tests not where he tests. He goes and runs a 4.49 with a 40 inch vert not a single team will say “well that wasn’t in Indianapolis”

This is the most coherent guess I have read. This actually makes sense. Get up to like 230 for the combine and measure. Drop down to 220ish for pro day and run.

People need to understand this usually isnt the decision of player, rather what their agent advises and it could be due to a number of reasons
Maybe they arent 100% and dont want to hurt their draft stock by running a slow 40 or not testing as well as they could
Maybe they are further up the draft boards than mocks think and feel like they arent gaining anything by do the workouts at the combine
Maybe the agent just believes he will perform better at LSU's pro day so tells him to skip the combine workouts and just do that
Maybe you're an undersized player than bulked up 10-15 lbs for the combine measurements and such but sacrificed your mobility as a result and would rather just not show that
It's always a number of different reasons why, but its not the player typically making the real decision there, just doing what an agent advises. In theory most agents WOULD know better as this is their job to maximize draft position and signing bonus (therefore their cut as well), but obviously they sometimes get it wrong as well.

It feels like he has been getting bad advice from the very beginning.

35.5 TFL 17 sacks 8 FF 10 PBU’s 5 INTs
7.5 sacks, 13 TFL, and 4 FF
He was good, not great and his NFL career will probably mirror Trev Faulk’s. It felt like he was more of a liability than anything the last 3 seasons. Pavia put him in a blender in the Vandy game.

What’s the advantage of skipping?
If I was trying to raise my draft stock after an inconsistent college career, and thought I had the ability to do it, I'd work out for anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Saying no to any evaluation just shows he's not confident in the results.
Now, it's different when you're already a very high pick, where a (bad) workout can only hurt your draft stock. But that's only a few guys.

Probably knew he would not perform well. He's had a lot of injuries.

Yeah I agree. If you can actually breakdown game tape, hes pretty sub par. Gets bullied off the ball by anyone with a pulse.
For anyone doubting me, go rewatch the Nicholls game and only watch Perkins. Its pretty funny watching D2 TEs block him to Narnia.
Its also when Weeks first saw the field. Replaced Perkins with Weeks and they went back back 3 and outs.

It's crazy how split everyone is on him. His freshman year the defense was awesome, and we would hang on to wins while JD5 was figuring it out.
The next two years the D was terrible, but he'd get a sack to make it 3rd and 15 and they'd complete a pass to get a first down. In 3 years he became one of the best statistical defensive players LSU has ever had.
The dude played here 3 years, made a bunch of plays, seemed to be a good teammate, and never got into trouble. I hope he ends up on a good team, and he stays healthy.

Wow. Idk how you could possibly arrive at this opinion. Harold Perkins was very good at times. Very inconsistent though and anyone who actually watched knows he didn’t always give 100% out there. I like him but this is BS. He’s nowhere near the best at either of those things.
