He was a great powerful RB, if he had stayed healthy and kept his mind focused on education and football he could have won the Heisman. He was almost unstoppable.

faulk had speed and could juke you out your jockstrap albeit no power.

Did you. Notice how big those holes were. At least 42 " between A and B gap.

You're right about these formations. We don't go under center anymore with a fullback. Would help to open up the running game. Don't know why we only use the shotgun.

One thing I will say about Ryan Perriloux is that he helped us win the SEC championship game during the national championship season.

Dude was a beast. I "played" ball with him at LHS (he was a year ahead of me). He put me on my arse too many times to count.

I never get tired of that highlight video, but one of my favorite things about it, other than watching the Diesel, is watching Alan Faneca, Todd McClure and company absolutely wreck shop in those clips.

That was the greatest running back room in LSU history.

in 52 years of life I have seen some amazing RB's in Tiger Stadium, but I have never seen anything like Cecil running through Miss St and Auburn in those two games.

Not even Shaun Alexander?

Emmitt Smith racked up over 200 yards as a freshman in Tiger Stadium.

I’m a good bit older than you, and I’ve never seen one either. He ran through those 2 teams like a good LSU back would run against rent a win teams.

I was at that game. He was outstanding. He had great speed and elusiveness. But he didn’t have the shear power of Collins.

I saw both of them live and I agree. Smith got his yardage 5 yards here, 7 yards there throughout the game. At the end of the game, I was surprised to learn that he had over 200 yards. Collins would bust big, exciting runs and was more impressive to watch.

I have never seen such pure raw RB talent EVER. I have never seen an athlete blow up his future like that EVER either.

Had he been able to sustain that level of production for one season, no doubt in my mind he’d have won the Heisman.
no chance he would have. He was extremely average after that. Faulk was way better.

I love these threads that pop up every now and then that pretend Cecil Collins was this super human talent. There are at least 10 LSU running backs I would take over “the diesel”
