He's definitely not sugarcoating it.

The entire defense evaporated on that 2 point conversion. All they had to do was knock whoever had the ball down. The entire middle of the field opened up. That kid could've driven an oversized load through that.

I'm answering your statement of how it wasn't on the defense. It absolutely was.
Either way it's a roll of the dice. Be the first to go for two and miss it, then all they have to do is kick a field goal from the 25 (I highly doubt they'd do that on first down but it is a choice they could do)
OR
Get a TD, kick the PAT and trust your defense to just knock down the ball carrier so he doesn't convert the 2 pt conversion. The entire defense just vanished at the worst possible time.

The defense was fine in the 2nd half, but once again the first half was bad and Baker’s defense fails to get stops in the critical moments.
You can complain about not going for it all you want, fact is both things can be true.

It’s the 3rd ranked D in the country. They had to go 70+ yards with no TOs. He trusted his D and they collapsed because Baker is a bitch. Lesson learned, it won’t happen again I’d bet.

I like him better than the other big shot Baton Rouge Radio Personality - who couldn't bother to post today but will lecture all of us tomorrow or Monday at some point on how we are looking at it the wrong way as fans.

The defensive stats were fool's gold. We haven't beaten a team with a pulse. the defense collapsed down the stretch at Ole Miss and they did it again tonight.

This is just plain wrong. The offense had 2 opportunities to salt the game away and didn’t get it done. I get everybody wants to pile on Baker but don’t just make stuff up.

It’s not just stats, you have elite personnel on the D. Yes we folded ca OM but that’s not supposed to happen. Baker is a phony but I’m not going to hammer Kiffin because he trusts his DC at this point. Now after tonight he should know better.
