I don't see them ditching Will Hall that quickly unless they flame out and finish 2-10. And even in that scenario he might not take the offer. He had the opportunity to take the Tulane job last year and didn't. I can't picture it being more attractive if the program is in a downward spiral than it was when they were a conference champion and got a playoff bid.

I doubt Baker goes for a second tier program like South Carolina. If Lane Kiffin has great success at LSU Baker has the opportunity to follow the Kirby Smart/Brett Venebles path and wait for one of college football’s plums. That’s a hundred million dollars guaranteed.

I don't think he is ready to be HC. He needs to learn how to run a team. BK taught him what not to do and he will learn a lot from CLK on handlling a team in private and publicly. He left Mizzou to come here with hopes of a title. I think he wants that very bad. The coordinators after a title win will always get a HC somewhere.
Besides, who has had succes at South Carolina. You've had good coaches go there and not do anything. I don't know what they are lacking, if it's facilities, now money in the NIL era, or what.
