Look. College football is amateur football. No pay.
College football is the Minor League for the NFL.
It's going to be difficult to keep these NFL-ready athletes on campus to play for free whilst still risking career-ending injury.

Can’t argue with these idiots with facts. What was missing was the fricking defections last year in the trenches when Miles was fired.

Lsu doesn’t cheat. The bama runners back who stayed made more money from Alabama than as a rookie in the nfl

LSU's numbers add up 6+10+6+4=26 but it says 32 declared. Up and down the whole chart it doesn't make sense.
The declared # includes this year, but the draft results don't. 26 + the 6 this year = 32

That's a fair statement, but why is it so much easier at other schools than LSU?

look at that list of schools, the higher education schools are at the bottom of the list because of the type of student athletes that they recruit.
The list is only the top 10 of the P5 conferences. That means there are around 50 schools who had fewer player declarations than even the lowest school you see. These include schools like Miss St, Ole Miss and Auburn and those teams don't have higher acceptance standards than LSU.

This puts guys like Tre White in perspective.

I was told Les Miles left this program with no talent

A list of everybody who left would be nice. That chart is off.

First off the article is about players who declared for the NFL draft while still having eligibility remaining.
Your post should say "trench". But yeah add in Teuhema and the reserve O-linemen and that just makes it a much bigger number of players LSU lost going into this past season.

The thing about this is that our "lower tier guys" are
doing better in many cases than Bama's higher drafted players. While there are several very good players, Julio is the only truly elite player from Bama. LSU has Peterson that I would consider the same class as Julio, Beckham, Landry, Mathieu and Whitworth are better than Bama's next best NFL player. We also have Fournette, Adams, Debo and Kwon with the looks of being elite very soon.
Bama wears their players out and most don't have much left for the NFL. Ingram is about the only player that has shown improvement after a few years in the league. Julio is about the only one that has started and remained a star for a significant amount of time
I am amazed every year at how many non star players from LSU are able to have productive NFL careers.

It did work and wouldve continued to work dumbass. Selling the we'll get you ready for the NFL in 3 years was the only way he could keep up with Saban. Miles was trying to win Natl titles not just go 10-2. And Saban was the man to beat and was turning in Number 1 classes every year. Try to compete with that in the same division against a guy that used to be the head coach at your school and had made alot of connections with high school coaches in your own state previously.
Actually developing kids to be NFL ready in 3 years was remarkable. He was the best in the business at this. That was why LSu has more NFL players than anyone in the entire country. Try that one on sometime brother! Number freakin 1.
The problem was he couldnt find a competent QB. The state quit producing them and 4* QB's arent going to come to LSU from out of state and hand the ball to Fournette and not be the focal point of the offense, when they can stay at home and be the man, would you?
Nick had the same problem but Alabama produced just enough to get the train ahead of LSU and win championships with the Mccarron, Croyle, Wilson types.
Miles searched under every rock to find a decent QB for his great teams. Los Angeles, Rettig, Kansas Mett, Purdue Etling, The no chest guy from indiana, etc.... What has O recruited at QB? Theyre not growing on trees on the bayou's anymore. This is going to continue to be a problem unless the state can produce a decent one at least every other year.

I beg to differ. in fact, I would like to be the Sherwood Blount of LSU one day. every major program within a 500 mile radius of us cheats on a daily basis, and does it well. it’s time to start matching them dollar for dollar

Another bullshite thread by the resident troll who desperately changes the spin almost daily.
Wasn’t it yesterday that Special Ed had to rebuild because “Miles left the program with no talent”?
Miles is long gone and this is Special Ed’s third year, Ponamsky.
He wins big this year or he’s shitcanned and you’ll be looking for a shite radio job in Monroe or Alexandria.

Now it seems he developed them too well all those years.
I can see the narrative will soon be "Recruiting isn't top 10 any more, but at least we don't lose Jrs to NFL".

And half of the other teams with the most early departures on that list have won a title in that span.
So you are all the more making a point that O sucks.

most of these kids have no other future except for pro football so as soon as they are eligible they are gone
If only they could go to college to change their life trajectory...
oh WAIT they ARE in college.
Shameful decision by coaches to attract them with NFL futures rather than an education; and short-sightedness by students to not see the reality of the average NFL career vs the benefits of a degree.

That's exactly what Ree and grandpa will be saying . The constant and desperate attempt to make it appear that O truly has a rebuild is sickening. Every big college deals with juniors leaving early .
