I think we need to prepare and plan for him to be out the entire season and take a medical redshirt to cone back next year.

Good one. Again, you read the rumor that someone posted. You know nothing.

He” is a random poster on here that said his sister was working wherever Brooks was being treated & was sharing info that his sister told him. Assuming that poster wasn’t making it up, that is a hipaa violation

Wrong

It 100% would be a HIPAA violation by the sister who works as a medical professional for the hospital.

The poster can say whatever he wants as long as he is not a medical professional or legal custodian of health records. This means he is not a “covered entity” under the HIPAA laws….his sister is.

Everyone’s hypothesis about HIPAA violations is assuming he is telling the truth. If he’s not telling the truth, it’s obviously not a HIPAA violation

First rule of HIPAA is dont listen to people who refer to it as HIPPA.

That being said, medical professionals and records custodians are covered. Everyone else is not covered.

Not gonna argue about it. If the info came from a source employed at the facility about Brooks then yeah it’s a violation. If that is confirmed then that person should reprimanded at a minimum. That type of information should be highly confidential.

Fair, but embarrassing point. A lazy oversight on my part. The proper acronym will be duly reflected in my post.

He specifically said she was a nurse that was in his surgery.

That would be a HIPAA violation.

People saying its wasn't or isnt vertigo, is like saying the chest pains had nothing to do with the heart attack. The vertigo episodes probably led to the discovery of what was causing them, which is probably brain/head realated. Both reports coincide with each other and can be true. But Its all speculative and extremely sad regardless.

Why is everyone so afraid to repeat the rumors that it was a brain tumor? It either is or it isn't.

Tiptoeing around it was more egregious than coming out and saying it. I could easily tell what was being alluded to. Vertigo makes sense now. A friend's dad drove off of the road one day under similar circumstances, and that was the beginning of a long road for him.

Yes, that's the indication. Was simply pointing out that based on the rumors from several people it was not *simply* vertigo.

Really? And how do you know this? I did my annual compliance training yesterday and HIPAA was still part of it.
