2000s Florida 2007. That was my stadium at its all time peak. Georgia 2003 is second.

This decade is the really tough one. Obviously the two you mentioned are at the top, but the 07 Auburn game with Flynn to Byrd and 05 Auburn game where John Vaughn missed five FGs, including the game loser in OT, were also amazing games.

Bama in 08 would probably be at the top if LSU won. The atmosphere was crazy for Saban’s return and it exploded when RJF blocked the game winning FG to send it to OT. Sadly, we lost.

Great game in an otherwise horrendous season. 0-7 in the SEC... hopefully the only time LSU fails to win a conf game.

This is the correct answer for the 2000s.

This showed us that the 90s were behind us and it was the start of us being a great program. The stadium was electric. The students were on the sidelines for the OT with Tennessee having to play literally into the student section.

1964 Ole Miss game that was won at the end on a two point conversion pass from Billy Ezell to our current radio guy, Doug Moreau.

Doug Moreau does an interview about that play in the 80's classic documentary "The Amazing LSU Tiger Tales." I remember this because they don't interview anybody else in the whole documentary, just him--about that one play. So random.

You could say the same thing about the 1972 Bert Jones to Brad Davis game against Ole Miss. The last drive and TD of the game made it special as it felt from the stands that Ole Miss dominated the rest of the game.

I’ll take your word for it. I was 10, and listening on the radio. I remember the sunken feeling of failure and then, “There’s 1 second left!” Man, if I was an Ole Miss fan I would have been pissed!

And yeah, Ole Miss might have dominated, but at least we scored twice!

Jimmy Gilbert had played nearly every position in his LSU career; defensive back, quarterback, tailback. I always thought he would have had a much better LSU career if they had just let him settle into one role.

He had been playing tailback the year he threw the touchdown pass on the first play against Auburn. His dad had told me what the first play was going to be, but I still had my doubts until they ran it.

1971 Notre Dame game I was on my recruiting visit to LSU, and Brad Davis was my host. A great guy, and it was an amazing game. The locker room and Broussard Hall were just crazy after the game, and the campus was rocking. Great memories.

I was 13 years old and I had this very strange premonition that we were going to do a halfback pass for a touchdown on the first play of that game. Still amazing to me how i guessed it was gonna happen. Very contrary to typical LSU football in those days.

Win or loss, ‘79 USC was the game of that decade IMHO.

My hearing has never been the same.

Back in those days great football teams had great defenses, and I never thought any of those games were boring

agreed - I always enjoyed the defensive domination we usually displayed.

The Burrow year is the first time I yearned for high scoring offense - that infected me.

I know this game was gut wrenching and pure devastation…. but the 2012 Alabama game has to be mentioned.

The whole stadium felt alive with the team suddenly clicking in the second half and the crowd, the band (and the Golden Girls) and student section all perfectly in sync.

I brought my brother who was a UT Austin student at the time and he said that game was an out of body experience haha.

He collapsed in front of his seat and passed away just as the game was ending.

And I remember that week before the game a Tennessee player was dissing the myth of Tiger Stadium as a feared venue for opponents! -- well we showed 'em that night that Tiger Stadium was for real-- the real Death Valley.

I'll add one from the 1940s.

LSU 13 North Carolina 7

Someone had "accidently" watered the playing field for 48 hours continuously before the game and UNC's great running back, Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice could never get traction on the muddy field. The 1949 team is referred to as the Cinderilla Team, beating three conference champs: the aforementioned UNC, Southern Conference champions; Rice, Southwest Conference champions and Tulane, SEC champions.

Yes.
We were overachirlvers that year and got drummed by Bud Wilkerson’s Oklahoma team 35~0 in the Sugar Bowl. But at least we beat Tulane.
