My bad if your comment was referencing the future, I agree with you there on Cuban and IU going forward (especially given Cuban is an attention whore and wants a piece of anything successful).

I thought your comment was backwards looking. Please proceed

Some schools will always be immune to donor fatigue (I.e. there are a bunch of schools but I’ll use Texas and Texas A&M as my example). They just have too much money / wealth widely distributed across their fan base and football generates a huge amount of income. It’s a machine that won’t stop.

But I 100% see this as an issue with the vast majority of schools across the country. I expect most schools have a more concentrated group of donors that do not have billions (especially if they jumped in over the past few years).

On the SEC - It will 100% never be the same as it was between 2000 - 2020.

It isn’t because of the high school talent leaving home / the SEC with big offers from he Midwest.

It is because of the ability to transfer and leave for more money / playing time after enrollment (in most cases - SEC kids staying home and deciding to leave for better playing time and/or more money WITHOUT having to sit out a year).

The SEC was dominant because the good teams were STACKED with talent from Freshman to Juniors. 4-5* players played special teams / situationally behind other 4-5* upper classman until their time to shine came with plenty of time to develop and assimilate into the team, scheme and have an identity.

Now - these guys can leave with no penalty if they don’t start freshman / sophomore year or they get poached with a huge $ offer to transfer.

Everyone is on a 1 year contract with a player option. What business has ever succeeded with their entire team on a 1 year contract.

I agree with you one most points. However, strongly disagree with your comment on IU / Cignetti…. Their recent success is actually the opposite of what you are implying.

Yes, they used transfers but more in the traditional sense of transfers and did not need Cuban or some financial advantage (undervalued, experienced players that individually don’t stand out & we’re not highly sought after).

I’d say his coaching / building of that team is one of the most impressive coaching accomplishments in any sport, especially in today’s landscape.

But sure, tell yourself the Tide got whooped because they had Mark Cuban.

I would have 100% bailed on the bleachers and just stood up the whole ceremony far away from stink bomb.

That is a lot to endure for a family friend graduation at a county school.
It’s a lot when you list the same scandal three different times
There is no way this is a real game
I was extremely pissed when we fired him because I love college hoops when LSU is good and he really had LSU bball fans coming back to life.

The hypocrisy of the media during his firing was next level - Vitale, Bilas and pretty much everyone acted like he committed murder. All while Sean Miller, Bill Self and others involved in the same investigation were still praised.

The others coaches mentioned had resources and personnel to do the dirty work in recruiting while Wade did not - so he put it upon himself to get it done.

Only reason he got caught. Now the same efforts are not only allowed but encouraged & LSU will step up the resources. I’m pretty damn excited and don’t give a damn about the media.

Edit: I think a lot of folks are now angry at the recruitment of players that were drafted / professional. Idgaf & let’s get this ship righted.
2003 - what a time to be alive.
Would love to hear the downvoters point of view…
So did you pick the buzzy butt or cake sucker to enjoy after your bowl of Cheerios.

Tough choices

100% correct, especially over the short term. However, the market is still fundamentally oversupplied and prices will fall pretty quickly once the Straight of Hormuz is open / safe (look at the forward curve - it is becoming more and more backwardated).

The more fundamental question is why would you want the price at the pump driving US policy and decision making. It is extremely short-sighted in a global market that will balance back out. Iran has used this as leverage for far too long and our political enemies knew this (Russia and China). Now was the perfect time to move for a number of reasons and China / Russia global positioning would only be strengthened through the passage of time without acting (remember this isn’t just about Iran):

Someone had to rip the bandaid off before Iran either:

(A) continued to exponentially build their ballistic missile stockpile which would give them the future capability to drag this out way longer & more leverage to not have a conflict
(B) eventually acquired a nuke which would make them untouchable and extremely dangerous with an oil supply directly supporting china

Also, we took steps to mitigate the US oil price pain by securing Venezuela and now receiving all their heavy crude (oil stockpiles in the US actually INCREASED recently). Compare that to China, who is now having to ration their oil supplies and will 100% feel much more price pain.

But yeah paying $3.50 vs. $2.80 at the pump is more important.
You better stop watching South Park now if that offended you.
I think if you somehow manage to fall in head first, you are a goner.

Was quicksand ever on fear factor?

I finally made the plunge into the stock market with my early career savings around that time too….except I did it in early February 2020….. I couldn’t even look at the S&P until 2021.

Do NOT try to walk, and under NO circumstances, try to walk via Highland. That area heading downtown between I-10 and campus is the straight up hood.

Haven’t been to a game in awhile so will let others opine but don’t walk.
No it isn’t. It’s quitting.

You signed up (and hopefully trained) for the full marathon. If you quit at 18, you are a quitter
What is your point? So Max is allowed to play 5 years excluding COVID year & medical redshirt (recently approved to play his 7th year). Trinidad is trying to do the exact same thing even if you count his "medical redshirt year".

2021 - 2022 (legitimate redshirt) - No Snaps
2022 - 2023 ("illegitimate redshirt") - No Snaps
2023 - 2024 - Ferris QB
2024 - 2025 - Ferris QB
2025 - 2026 - Ole Miss QB
2026 - 2027 - 5th Year

I think neither should be allowed to play & the whole thing is a joke but this double standard by the NCAA is insanity. Cam Rising was approved to play for 8 years. Pavia was allowed to play last year.

The COVID year has allowed so many notable players (such as Dillon Gabriel) to play 6 years. Yet a D2 player, who did not play a snap during the year in question, should not get the opportunity.

I agree with you and on the same page.

My problem is the NCAA. How can you allow a player who played meaningful snaps for D1 schools for 7 years get another year but deny Chambliss (and this is multiple players beyond Max).

NCAA dug their own grave and now needs to take a dirt nap imo.
Look I don’t really care one way or another but your first sentence is just flat out wrong.

He has played 3 years and has not made millions. You think Ferris State or Ole Miss paid a D2 QB millions?

The entire eligibility question is whether he should have received a medical redshirt for the 22-23 season where he didn’t play a snap. He redshirted his Freshman year 21-22.

Max Johnson is playing for his 8th year and NCAA cleared that.
Loved me some Mad Max but I think you are blending 1994 and 1995.

Instrumental in the 1994 championship for sure. In 1995, he became a problem on the team after being benched for Drexler.

He never played a minute in the finals.
