If we get good QB play, then LSU is going to be an elite team in 2018. It is really that simple. The defense will be solid and elite at some positions (namely White).

I actually think we are loaded at WR and just need good QB play to give them a chance to shine. Giles/Jefferson/Dillon complement Davis/Sullivan/Anderson. We even have some of the better pass catching / athletic TEs we have had in recent memory.

We replace a couple lineman, so I worry about that position against the elite teams. We are the weakest we have been in years at RB, so I don't expect us to be able to lean on that position the same way we have historically. I hope one guy emerges during the year...expecting CEH to be the guy that gets the most carries.

I was listening to his interview on Finebaum yesterday and I was mad at myself for wasting 5 minutes of my life. This guy sounded like the biggest negatiger I ever heard.

Nathan Rush I love Les Miles, but unless an opposing rookie coach sends 13 men onto the field with the game on the line, or LSU can convert fake field goals off the bounce pass, there will be no BCS national title run to New Orleans. It’s an oxymoron — the Bayou Bengals are loaded with talent but lack star power, and the leadership that comes with it. Entering the season, there are no obvious Glenn Dorseys (although true freshman Anthony “Freak” Johnson is scary) or JaMarcus Russells (although Georgia reject and JUCO transfer Zach Mettenberger weighs in at 6’5”, 250) or Patrick Petersons (although the secondary is stacked with Mo Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu). Unfortunately, the burden falls on the inconsistent Jordan Jefferson — who went from throwing 17 TDs and seven INTs in 2009, to just seven TDs and 10 INTs in ’10. I think LSU overachieved last season and lacks the mature talent to win it all this year. I’m picking Oregon in the opener at Cowboys Stadium on Sept. 3

Who predicted 6-6 for 2011 coming off a 11-2 season in 2010?

ETA : well that was one idiot. He basically said we got lucky in 2010

I don’t think it’s a good comparison of 2017 and 2018 though. Just an opinion though.

The rant said we lost too much on D...Jordan Jefferson was qb. It got even worse after the Jordan Jefferson kick. No discipline etc.

Glen Guilbeau is our version of Paul Finebaum, but he hates on LSU every chance he gets.

LSU’s talent level is fine. Last year, we filled needs. Sure we missed on Surtain, but we solidified depth along the lines which we were lacking the last few years under Miles.

Adding Burrow could be the missing key to the puzzle. We shall see when we take the field vs Miami.

Like always it's just something to bitch about from the GoodOleLess lovers. We could go 12-0, and then lose in the bowl game, and these same lame losers would be on here mad about O being hired. You will never get rid of hte animosity until GoodOleLess is back with all his brilliance. And by the way , I think Less makes O look like a rocket scientist. :jump1:

I just had to giggle, you talk about the strength of the front 7, and you talk about the lack of depth/experience in the DB and you expect to blitz. I highly doubt they leave a thin defensive back crew on islands. The beauty of our front 7 is we should be able to create plenty of pressure with no blitz needed. Why have a strength and not use it?

Please explain why a DC won't blitz if we don't have depth at DB?

We know Greedy is good. Vincent started at nickel last season, but Donte jumped him. That doesn't mean he's not a very good DB. He was a top 5 DB in the nation with 4.38 speed. Joseph was a 5 star CB before switching to safety. Talent is not an issue and if/when the secondary settles in yes we will blitz more.

How is blitzing not using your front 7? You know LBs blitz don't you?

As far as the ifs, Bama and GA are replacing around 60% production so until they prove it this season they have ifs as well. That being said, I think it's safe to say they will be just fine.

True. We were preseason #4 team in the nation for 2011. We were supposed to be good. The concern was actually the schedule which included #2 Bama, #3 Oregon and a good WVU team.

Also I didn’t say anything about 2008. Not sure why you included that.

Again, I included it because, as the topic outlines in the header, G.G. said this is the lowest talent level since nick took over.

2008 team has been since nick saban and it is less talented than this team. The statement is not accurate and false.

We can debate lbs, wrs, cbs, safeties, d-line etc. I believe a lot of it goes hand and hand. Wr's look good when a qb gets them the ball, you can hide lbs and db's when you have a dominant front.

I think lsu will have a dominate front this year on the d-line. I think if we have a qb that get's them the ball, the wr core will be as good as those teams.

The discussion is talent and I believe we will have multiple wr's from this team in the n.f.l., I think we have multiple players in the secondary that will be in the n.f.l, d.line, lb, and even offensive line.

Most of the yardage our returning guys got were against shitty opponents. Giles is changing systems completely. His stats from before mean nothing to me.

I can’t argue that, but I’m more interested in what they do at LSU. We’ve always had talent in the NFL.
I like our guys, no doubt, just kinda curious how they’ll work out as a unit.
CB is no doubt a question mark, even with Greedy we’re still thin.
