Wonder if he’s talking to the coaches that peaced out on their teams or is this just for players?

Of course he isn’t. This is a business for coaches but players better be loyal or die.

Are we calling Joe burrow a quitter yet?

Both of them spent a few years in a program before leaving. Not quite the same as a freshman bolting after the season.

No. It’s ok to transfer after you EQ run a diploma and graduate. It’s not ok to transfer mid season or as an underclass man.

Why is it not ok?

Why shouldn't kids be allowed to better their situation in life?

Don't be so foolish. They competed and lost out, then transferred.

exactly. our damn HC left his team with the possibility of making the playoffs to better his situation.

even if they were not making the playoffs, they still had a bowl game. how is his leaving any different than a player doing the same?

i mean im old school and dont like it, but they made cfb a business....so the players should treat it like one too.

Does the same apply to coaches?

Why should coaches get to quit on their team with no consequences, but players don't get the same right/

Gene Chizik left Iowa St after year 2 of a 5 year contract to go to Auburn for more money and a better opportunity

How is he not part of the "give up" generation?

Did Gene ever switch coaching gigs? Did any of you that are upvoting ever switch jobs for more pay or a better opportunity? The hypocrisy is astounding. It really bothers me how little self-awareness or insight y'all have. I just cannot believe you cannot see the hypocrisy. I don't like kids leaving our program, but it's their choice. Furthermore this is the new reality and you can b!tch and moan all you want, but it's here to stay. Oh and by the way the portal works both ways. We can get new players just like we can lose them.

Life is literally a transfer portal. NCAA restrictions on player movement are unnatural and illegal in any other circumstance. Gene Chizik is an institutionalist moron.

5th year seniors are different that sophomores that don't want to compete.

Terrible examples to make your point.

No it’s not. It’s a good example

The portal gives players the opportunity to become more than a backup no matter what the year.

The portal is the portal whether it’s freshmen or seniors. It’s the same portal.

Players are transferring for opportunity. They want to work, not sit on the bench

Can’t blame them

Yeah but what if another school pays more?

Gene would have left if another college paid him more, players are doing the same.

People are mercenaries. There is no more greater whole. Same is true of any work place. Most big companies are staffed by mercenaries, cutting each other down, stepping on and over one another. It's a war to the top.

dont want to compete? huh?

they are employees!!! get that through your thick skull. they should be able to leave if they dont like the vision of the new boss.

i dont like any of this shite but people turned cfb into a business....when that happened the players should get to treat it liek one too and go to the employer with the best offer.

just like quinn ewers having essentially a 1st round draft pick contract in front of him to choose Texas...he should do it and take advantage of it.

LSU better get their shite together on NIL and the boosters better start setting up 100k minimum payouts for all schollies and better have 1mill plus for top qb prospects or we are going to get our shite pushed in.

do i like it nope....but no different than any other job.

They are not employees--or even workers--in any legal sense.

At least not yet. SCOTUS' Alston decision and the recent NLRB memo could change that soon.

That and the recent NCAA constitutional convention will have a much greater impact on US college sport than any NIL legislation. But no one is talking about either one.

I have no problem with young athletes looking for a better fit. You only live once. Be like staying at a bad job or with a bad friend or girlfriend. Imagine staying with your 1st love interest. Someone had to quit on the other
