Very underrated game we had with them in 2013. One of the most fun seasons in recent memory tbh.

Mett doesn't get enough love

That season was frustrating. We finally had an offense that was explosive and could score points. Worst defense id ever thought I’d see at LSU until the past 2 seasons happened lol. Shouldn’t have lost that Ole Miss game but Les pulled a couple of all time bad Les moves in that game and coverage bust after coverage bust in that UGA game and still had a chance at the end but couldn’t hold on the Odell fumble on punt return was brutal.

I love the 4-2-5, and no not a nickel. The good old 4-2-5 with 2 SS, I know some of you cats ran that back in HS. Patterson was the only guy I can remember running it at the D1 level. But we all know that ship sailed with the modern Spread offenses that use more RPO and less option. Sad way to end a great run.

Man that’s kind of harsh. That’s about as good as anybody is going to do at TCU. Tough time to be getting into the market. He provided the success that got their new stadium built. Won a lot of games for them. See ya. I don’t think they’ll do any better.

Always thought he and the frogs were way overrated, piled up numbers and wins mostly in a weak conference with weak schedules, we’d have won the game we played them by a couple of more scores if not for a stupid penalty on third and long that gave them a garbage td, and a stupid td allowed on a kickoff return

yep, and so were the shoulder stripes. They looked like suspenders.

TCU had no business winning half of the games they won. They weren’t overrated you were just trying to place them in the same category as the LSU, Bama and Ohio State’s of the world.

Yea they were racking up wins a weak conference but they were a weak program until Patterson came along.

Dude consistently did more with less. His recrutiing classes averaged in the 30s nationally and he finished in the Top 25 several years.

Like mnay teams it took much better than average college QBs Andy Dalton and Trevone Boykin to make his teams competitive with the best teams.

Might be worth a call for the next LSU head coach to see if he would be DC if they have connections.

Patterson is too old school.

It would be another Pelini.

Maybe so but Patterson >>> Pelini as a defensive coach strategy-wise.

I was there and I remember.

Poor girl is probably about 26 now. Wonder if her husband knows.

He MIGHT be more willing to adapt than Pelini was but they both built their defensive philosophies around stopping the run/options of the 2000s to early 2010s of college football. We’re so far beyond that world now.

Wow. I knew he was on the hotseat but I didn't realize that it was mid season firing levels of scorching.

That season sucked arse on so many levels outside of the brilliant offense. The defense was terrible and full of players I can't believe we're starters thinking back

Wut? TCU is an expensive private school with an enrollment of about 12,000. They only recently made the jump to P5. Why the hell should this school consistently find a way to beat schools like Texas, Tech, and any other major public institution.

They legit competed for a national championship. Overrated is not hammering Ole Miss in a NY6 bowl, beating Wisconsin in the Rose to finish 13-0 and number 2 in the nation.

Since Gary took over, here are some non-conference games of note.

@ Nebraska
@ Oklahoma (W)
H/H ByU
@ Stanford (W)
@ Clemson (W)
V Oregon State (W)

This was before they went to the Big 12. Since then, they’ve played big games against LSU and Ohio State non-conf.

You are probably right. Idk, maybe he’ll rehab at bama and then take a HC job at a sunbelt school.
