It was in response to OP saying wish we could actually compete.
They will. This is the #1 team in the country with an 11 game win streak so expecting them to win is a stretch, but it will be competitive

Auburn is coming off a big, emotional, home win vs. Tennessee last Saturday and has a road game at (23) Ole Miss this Saturday.
They will lose 1 of the next two.
Prob 2 or 3 losses during their tough stretch in February

Go repeat this statement in front of a mirror and see how stupid you look saying it. Of course the AD cares about one of the largest programs under his guidance. Only a complete idiot would argue against that.

Have you been reading this board long? Apparently there are a bunch of idiots on this board.

Whatever you want to call yourself buddy. But it’s definitely not smart.

90% of ranters refuse to go to a basketball game. Now you're mad Auburn fans are buying the tickets.

I could care less auburn fans are buying the tickets. I do care that our program sucks to the point that we have the #1 team in the country coming in and no one gives a shite because our program sucks.
McMahon can’t coach and brings zero excitement. I’ve listed several examples of coaches in their first yr who are doing remarkable things (didn’t even mention pope at Kentucky bc that program is on a different level), but we shouldn’t be 3 yrs in and look like this. Hell, most of the out of conference games the team looked like shite.

Maybe if Woodward hired a coach worth a damn, you wouldn’t be acting a fool.
Don't think he'll try?

Yay. New people. Really clever name, bro.

I agree with most of that but it's sad that we're hanging our hats on "we played tough", and "at least we didn't lose by 30".

They’re the #1 team in the country.
#8 Tennessee was saying the same thing after they played them

Further embarrassment for LSU basketball….
Former LSU fans that pull for Will Wade when he will never come back here.

quote:The Bama performance on the road did give a glimmer of hope that we might not get run out the gym, but I don't know if we can string together back to back efforts. AU is likely to be a 20 point favorite on the road. That might be a bit much to give, but I still want a definition of compete because to me it's relative to the current state of the program.
I'm not ready to go out on a limb and say LSU will win tomorrow (I don't think they will), but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if this one is a little closer than most expect.
Being a 20 point underdog at home lends itself that losing by 14, 10, 6 points could be considered competing when no one thinks we are going to win. That's how low the bar has been set.

Auburn is probably the worst matchup for McMahon so I hope we can pull off the upset but I just don’t see it.

Auburn was -16.5 @ SC
I’d be surprised if LSU is more than 15 pt dog at home.
“Competing” isn’t covering the spread. It’s putting yourself in a position & having a chance to win the game. Like I said, Auburn hasn’t been great on the road. Their biggest win was by 5 @ Texas.

It's the Kobayashi Maru of LSU MBB discussion addressing the reality of the program with the pseudo-fans.

I am not going. I don't feel good. Also, Aubie is going to have to pay more than $7 for my seat. I may list it for $100. DGAF if it sells or not

Excuse makers always try to create a win/win scenario so you’re absolutely correct.
