I say you have to have a QB competition come spring. I appreciate everything Daniels did. I think he put us in the best position to win for much of the year. I saw it on TV and in-person that Daniels holds the ball too long, too frequently. He limits turnovers, but that also limits scoring opportunities. The WRs said it best after the Georgia game: the QB needs to let them go make a play.

Most encouraging thing is that Nuss was throwing guys open. A few of those throws were made where his guys could adjust to the ball and not them being open when he threw it. That one throw to Booty and Nabers, JD could not make, those were supper accurate and hot.

Very refreshing to watch. I missed seeing long passes.

So many on this board cant wait for him to transfer.

You have to have someone who can sling it to win championships. LSU has a lot more upside with Nuss than Daniels going forward.

Remember when you were racist if you just wanted Nuss to come in when Daniel's was struggling... I member.

I don't believe a lot of people know what throwing a WR open means. To me it means throwing when the WR sees the QB release and the DB doesn't and/or throwing in a direction were the WR has leverage over the defender. That is, throwing to a spot where the WR can make a minor adjustment to get to the spot and the defender gets left behind. That takes instant recognition by the QB.

Nuss is transferring if Daniels is on the roster. There's no way he risks a year of eligibility against a QB who beat him out once and did not get benched for performances against Auburn and Arkansas.
He'll be one of the most coveted QBs in the portal.

I would like to watch an every Nuss pass video if someone wants to get on that

shoot not only should it be an open competition but Nuss deserves meaningful snaps in the bowl game. After seeing his performance against UGA, letting him go in the portal especially if it is to a SEC opponent would sting

Agree, Its so fricking childish and immature that some fans would think that.
If the situation was reversed and Nuss got pulled for Daniels , no one would mention anything about Racism .
I am so tired and sick of hearing racism come into a QB or any position on the field if there is a Player change.
Coaches are paid to win games. IF the guy is "Purple" but can lead a team to wins, Guess who the coach is playing?? Purple guy!

I doubt Nusd goes anywhere but LSU next yeqr.

His most impressive throw was the deep post. he threw that from 20 to 20 and Malik didn't have to break stride. incredible. Now if you can tweak his decision making then we're cooking with grease

Everyone that was arguing that we needed a mobile quarterback like Daniels needs to go watch that highlight of Nuss evading the sack and rolling out for the deep pass.

Yes, it was somewhat of a "low pressure" situation given that Georgia had a 25 point lead when he entered the game. Yes, some of those throws were risky. But I don't think anyone could have watched the second half of that game and not felt he IMMEDIATELY gave the passing game some juice that simply hasn't been there all season. I know LSU had an inexperienced OL, but there his NO way LSU should have been almost at the bottom of the nation in sacks allowed. Particularly with a starting QB who has great running ability.
Daniels made a lot of really good plays this season. LSU likely doesn't beat Alabama without him. But I think we would all agree the overwhelming majority of those great plays were either designed runs or, more likely, scrambles off of designed pass plays. Daniels had very few interceptions this year. Which is great. But sometimes you ask "at what cost?" The Les Miles passing approach was always very risk averse...which generally led it to being very reward averse as well.
The coaches know these guys FAR better than any of us here can. But that wasn't some FCS school out there on Saturday. It was the best defense in the nation and Nussmeier was hitting big throw after big throw against them. I'm not saying that means he could do the same for an entire season. But I don't see how the LSU coaches can't take notice of that performance. I'm certain coaches at other schools who need a QB did.
LSU's offense was not terribly consistent this year. So there has to be changes for next season. That is either with personnel or the approach. If Daniels is your guy, that's fine. But he's started 40+ college games now. He's not suddenly going to change the way he plays. So it will be up to the offensive staff to adjust the approach to best fit him and open up the passing game. However, if the approach is going to be the approach without any change, then the staff has to consider different options at QB

Nuss evading the sack and rolling out for the deep td pass to the endzone.

People on this board act like Nuss is a statue back there. Is he as fast as JD? No. But he can definitely move

This one clip could’ve been JD5’s season highlight reel for the passing game.
