Amazing what a difference three years of a competent AD with a spine can make.

Woodward really cares about LSU and Louisiana. We are blessed to have him.

I remember when LSU hired Aleva. I was fuking stunned. This is the guy responsible for the Duke LaCross debacle and LSU hired him?? I still don’t get it.

How the guy got a promotion after that debacle is beyond me.

Some people still call him “spineless” etc for firing Wade. As if he Really had a choice. Clearly the ncaa made him do that if we wanted to get off the hook and have them go away.

Maybe a few. The majority of people who hate Woodward on this board would drop to their knees, without a second thought, in order to hold one of Orgerons testicles in their mouth.

The level of incompetence that Alleva demonstrated was truly embarrassing for the athletic department imo. He should never have been hired. There were a lot of posts on here slamming Woodward for hiring JJ and firing Wade but he has upgraded us at head coach in all 4 of our major sports imo. The way he has handled the searches has been very professional. Who knows softball might be next.

I don't completely agree with this. I think that if there had been no family relationship with Emmert, AND Woodward wanted to keep Wade, he definitely had a choice. The NCAA doesn't have ANY POWER anymore, and numerous power schools have told them to stick it where the sun don't shine, and the NCAA promptly went and stuck it where the sun don't shine.

I will always believe Woodward did Emmert a "solid" by dismissing Wade and allowing him to save face.

With all that said, I'm very encouraged by what McMahon has done so far, and he's certainly got a good record (including the tournament) as a HC. As much as I LOVED Wade, I want LSU coached by the best man for the job. Hopefully McMahon will prove to be better. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Me either. LSU should have never hired him in the first place.

Just what Alleva allowed to happen to that Duke men’s Lacrosse team should have been a giant red flag for LSU. That alone should have been enough end any thoughts of hiring him….and yet it didn’t.

The fact that we haven’t heard anything about punishments at this point is stupid. It really seems like it was a witch hunt to get him out.
