Amateurism already has a definition:

(1) the practicing of an activity, especially a sport, on an unpaid rather than a professional basis.

(2) the fact or quality of being incompetent at a particular activity.

College football players are certainly paid and very competent at the game.

To call Sam Leavitt, Jordan Seaton, and or Trey'Dez Green unpaid and incompetent at football would be a massively ignorant thing to do.

THEY ARE NOT AMATEURS!

Where these arguments fall short is trying to make a distinction between college and pro football. Saying that professional players don’t belong in the college game is just silly. Both are professional leagues.

Then like 20 minutes after he posted that he quoted his own tweet and went on and on about how he can’t just standby while the sport is ruined. The dude is fricking insufferable.

Multiple schools involved in this but yet he's the only one VERY publicly trashing his alma mater and CFB fanbase daily and multiple times

Yeah he should def keep biting the hand that fed him. He's not the only bum who couldnt cut it in the league and had to get a podcast.

Being loud and stupid on Twitter is what feeds him now. People on the outside probably think he actually has some authority when talking LSU so he keeps it up. Whenever he tries to talk NFL actual NFL players embarrass him.

Um, he’s right. Amateurism is much better for the sport and these courts are full of shite.

quote:

Recently the courts have rejected this argument and have collectively ruled that the NCAA has to follow US laws. No going back and it’s not fault of LSU, CLK, or the judges.

It IS the fault of the judges - these laws were meant to protect workers in factories and offices, not student athletes. It’s gross misapplication.

With all of the money the sport generates, a kindergartner can figure out that denying college athletes money in rev sports is a massive anti-trust violation.

The USSC said athletes could get NIL compensation. The House settlement was the NCAA admitting that amateurism was no longer possible in a sport that generated as much money as football does.

The amateur genie has left the bottle. Give that up.

What they need is what every other sport has either by legal decision (MLB), legislation (NFL), or precedent from those 2 sports (every other major professional sport). They need some anti-trust exemption from Congress (which could happen tomorrow if the NCAA stopped being so greedy on that damn bill), or the Supremes to give them one (which is not gonna happen)

Again, it produces a ton of revenue, sure. It doesn’t produce a significant amount of profit though because nearly every sport outside of football and men’s basketball loses money.

The high money brought in by football is what covers those losses. Only 10 programs out of 300 are not subsidized by their general universities funds. LSU is one of the ten.

In the end, this myth that schools are making money hand river fist and poor little student athletes aren’t getting their share is absurd.

This is the way to rein in the insane courts - statutorily exempt the NCAA from any and all labor/antitrust laws.
