At least it appears that LSU is in a better position now under coach O than before under Les. I agree, let it play out lots of football left.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I agree 100%. I would prefer Herman over Fisher with what he has shown the last year and a half.

Let's pump the brakes just a little, here.
Sure, Coach O is an ideal interim, and things could get interesting if he runs the table.

But this year isn't the issue. O is running Les' system right now, and that system will carry out the rest of the season.

The question is, what happens 2, 3, 5 years from now? Aranda will be gone, probably at a Power 5 school as HC himself by then. Who does O bring in- and no, it better not be another former retired LSU coach.
Alleva runs the Athletic Department, but the football coach runs the football program.

What kid wants to come play for a "short term" coach?

Giving him a short term contract doesn't make him a "short term coach."

LSU can give him a normal length contract with drastically reduced buyout if he doesn't win a certain threshold of games, or a short term contract that has an extension option for O if he wins a certain threshold of games.

No kid is going to reject coming to LSU just because the head coach's contract says he's gone if he is a loser. Kids come to a school because they believe they will win there.

not considering the bowl game...

9-0, welcome coach O!
8-1, lose SEC champ, tough decision
7-1, tough decision
6-2, very easy decision

If Herman and fisher are off the table and O goes 6-2 or 7-1, I don't see how you don't at least give him a chance. 4-5 year deal with low buyout in case things go south. There's no other coach in America that loves LSU as much as BeBe, even if he gives you the same record as Miles, it would at least be more enjoyable, entertaining football with a true LSU and Louisiana guy as coach.

I agree with the point that we have to see how this season shakes out before rushing to any decisions. It's one thing to come in with shock therapy and turn things around for a couple of weeks, but when the chips are on the table, how will the team respond? 8 weeks + a bowl is a good amount of time to audition.

More important than our record is how we lose the games and the reason for such.

I hope if Coach O has the success we all hope he has that Alleva doesn't have a "Sandy Barbour" moment. Remember, she was the up and coming athletic director at Tulane in the 90's who hired Tommy Bowden and vaulted Tulane's football program to a national ranking of 7th after just 2 years. On that staff was a great offensive mind named Rich Rodriguez who Bowden praised and gave credit to Tulane's success. Bowden was hired away by Clemson and many thought she would take Bowden's recommendation to hire Rich Rod....but instead, she had a massive brain fart and hired the Offensive coordinator from GA Chris Scelfo. The program tanked terribly after that and she-rightfully so was run off. Tulane would have faired 10x better with Rich Rod so I hope Alleva doesn't screw the pooch!!!

With the likes of Tim Brando and Colin Cowherd around, is this any real surprise?

The Tigers power brokers want Tom Herman?

The Tiger power brokers have been huddled around in the Ivory Tower Circle Jerk for the past 12 years telling one another how awesome they are.

Meanwhile, reality is unfolding all around them (at their feet, of course).

Saturday was a punch in the mouth (their Daddy's will sue you for that) to this elite "LSU power brokers" class.

Ya'll better look alive. Tiger Nation gonna take it all the way.

Props to Mr Joe. He's got the biggest balls of them all. If we run the table, he will be "UNTOUCHABLE".

For those of you in Reolinda, that means he will be the Big Man on Campus.

You hear what I said. Bigger than CEO, bigger than Fu King Alexander.

Mark my words !!

More 1st downs since Saban?

More yards in SEC play in the "history of the school"?

Bugger. I feel your joy !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace !!!

Coach O looks and acts like you would expect an LSU coach to be. I really hope the guy wins out and gets the job. Couldn't happen to a better person.

I agree with the posters in the thread saying he at least has to go 6-2 to even be in the conversation AFTER Tom Herman and Jimbo say no.

I still think the Tier 1 candidates should get the first look.

Once they are out of the way, I would love to see O get a shot. I love the guy. I really do. He could have a very incentive-laden contract and he would have LSU loaded with talent in case he didn't work out for a new coach to come in and be successful.

I'm assuming he means O getting the job is not the best thing for LSU football.

I agree. Taking over mid season and finishing it out is entirely different that running your own program. O may be great, or he may be mediocre. Neither will be manifest after 8 games. Too big of a risk for a top 10 program.

O's only path to permanency is a National Championship. Doable but it's gonna take a few lucky breaks.
