herman is gonna kill it wherever he goes. texas has the in state talent and all the other bells and whistles to become a perennial juggernaut. much easier path to the playoff. i'm just guessing he takes texas because he seems to like the state, no income tax and he's a graduate alum of texas. i could be wrong of course. the lsu job is nothing to sneeze at.

Coach O hasn't really proved anything yet. Everyone agrees that Missouri is a second division SEC East team, and the Tigers were a heavy favorite.

I want to see this board after the Florida game, win or lose.

It won't be hard.

This hire can't be based on short term results, emotion or feel good bullshite.
O has to win convincingly and he articulate a vision for the program: recruiting, staff changes, academics, offensive philosophy and the type of coordinator he wants etc.

That has to be weighed against other candidates.

Someone will separate themselves. You choose that person.

The issue with keeping coach O is similar to dating. You never want to settle you always want what you can't have. Coach O is that girl you know you can sleep with, Herman/Jimbo are the ones playing hard to get but youd do anything to sleep with.

Fwiw:not saying coach O won't be great just saying how it is perceived.

that's just the thing, it all depends on coach O going 6-2 or better.

I think he has so far shown he has a vision. He changed practice right away with a well defined purpose. It wasn't just I'm doing the opposite of what Les did, but it was we are doing this because it allows for this. He is finding ways to motivate and get our team engaged and proud to be tigers. I would bet he has a well defined plan about who he is going to target as oc, and that he wants Dave Aranda here as the dc.

I like alot of the up and coming tier 2 guys but we know you can't out recruit bebe so he has that on them, he is putting in some very solid changes and given the reason for doing it.

However, we shall see how it goes. If it goes well record wise then its going to be really tough for the AD to convince people that O isn't best suited for this job.

Honestly, if Herman and Jimbo say no, there's no other coach I'd rather have right now. If you want, put him on a short contract with a low buyout, then if it doesn't work out we can go after the biggest fish later.

Texas is the most profitable college program in the country by a HUGE margin. It's a fantastic job provided you win. You have everything you need to succeed.

I hope he does make it hard. That's a great problem to have.

Seriously that means that LSU ran the table and finished 10-2 and be SEC champs (assuming that Auburn does not run the table).

Im starting to feel that way. At first I had O in the middle of the tier 2 guys pending record. So far every thing he has done has been a great change. Im also willing to look at process vs results because sometimes even pushing the right button doesn't mean it will have success. O is showing so far that he has a clear vision for what LSU should be. He installed it pretty quickly as well.

Don't know about that. If Herman wants to coach at LSU it's not a hard decision at all.

Who down votes this???

How can anything that is seen as positive for coach O and LSU nationally, be seen as a negative? Some LSU fans obviously lacking, need to get their craniums examined or their Viagra refilled or both.

its hard to not give the man that won an sec west title the job. It would probably back fire on us and be another ole ball coach type moment.

If coach O does win the West, wins the LSU fans and LSU players over, how do you go against that?

They’re going to have to fire Ed Orgeron first,
They're parsing words and trying to inject needless drama into the situation. Coach O is clear on the fact that he's a substitute teacher until the end of the year. Consider him a contract employee and the contract is for 1 year at that position.

you don't, you could try to argue he didn't build this team, but its clear he turned it around. We also know O can recruit so you cant say that he couldn't build this

I think they assured him of a fair shot at being head coach so he would take the role. USC screwed him over for a tier 2 guy and look what happened to them.

Eh, I say let's hold the phone.

It's easy to say this playing against an undersized Missouri.

Let's see what we look like as we enter the meat of our schedule then re-evaluate from there.
