Right!
Back when Dale Brown came to LSU there was a 6'10' high school player in New Orleans. Naturally all LSU fans were hoping that he would come to LSU. He didn't. He went to the bluest of Blue Bloods.
There was a story in "The Advocate" about this player's Dad who came to Brown and told him it would cost $10,000, and transportation to all LSU away games. The Advocate writer said LSU basketball did not have a fan base, at that time, to afford such a payoff.
Next season that midwest power was in the final four. The broadcast crew, during their intro of the broadcast stated, this recruits parents had attended every game that season, except one.
Betcha Joe Hall never had to pay a cent.
This player was reported to have owned a couple of race horses once he left college.
The Blue bloods know how to play the game.
I also remember a California recruit named Mills, who received a VCS tape box, stuffed with money, shipped on UPS. The box broke open exposing the cash and the driver notified his boss. He was probably a UCLA fan.

But a young coach is expected to compete on even terms with that type organization.

So he was paying for players at VCU too?

There were rumors to that effect that surfaced back when this whole thing started. Oh well.

A name has already been posted.

Three names of players have been posted. None of them played for VCU. I doubt we will ever really know who the player was.

I’d love more evidence to back this up bc, if true, then our AD looks very stupid for rushing to do this (he already does bc he fired Pear THE DAY BEFORE SELECTION SUNDAY) but this is beyond the pale.

What's funny is some of you are choosing to believe that Woodward was given this information, then looked in the mirror in a panic and screamed "OMG I need to do something about this yesterday!!!"

The player played for Wade at VCU and was never even recruited to LSU, I don't know how the hell the NCAA is gonna use that against LSU. But, I know for a fact it is not a former LSU player.

So the fiancé of someone he coached at VCU randomly had his university provided phone number at LSU not his personal and he knew exactly who it was lol. Sounds like fan fiction

He couldnt even stick to the unwritten rules he's known about for a decade or more.

Time to find someone who can coach basketball f

Understood. Wade messed up.
Finding a top coach now under the current circumstances will be extremely hard considering the penalties we will certainly face.

It was probably Samir Doughty. Guard from Philly. He played one year at VCU then transferred to Auburn. I remember a story about how his dorm room got trashed at the end of his freshman season at VCU and the next thing u know he was gone and showed up at Auburn. The only recruit with both a VCU and LSU connection was Mayan Kiir. Committed to VCU then about ten days later switched his commitment to LSU after Wade switched schools. Not sure if he ever played for LSU or not. Cant remember

I am pretty sure all of the redacted names will become public when the NCAA makes their final ruling on the sanctions.

All I am gonna say is the former player's only connection to LSU is being coached by Wade at VCU

Does that means that by cutting Wade loose LSU helped insulate themselves? At least from some of the alleged wrongdoings?

So the lady got his number after finding out that he was in deep shite so she extorted him.

How does that make him dumber than we thought?

Obviously it’s dumb to pay out of your account but we know that happened already
I just don’t see how it’s even worse now with this new revelation that’s probably wrong anyway

He was buying other team's players, too?

No, it’s fact. College basketball is a nasty business.

But hey, enjoy that 9-22 next year with the squeaky clean replacement.

Hopefully. The NCAA tends to punish the coaches involved more than the current players who usually had nothing to do with it. That's the new direction of these latest punishments. Sean Miller got fired and
Book Richardson ended up in jail. NC State only got a $5k fine and a 4 week recruiting communication ban, one year of probation and a loss of one scholarship. Plus some vacated wins. The assistant coach involved was banned from coaching for 6 years. The Head coach only for one year. And they had six level one violations, four level two and two level three. So there def is hope it could be mostly Wade and Armstrong that get punished and not necessarily the current players and new staff.
