So the SEC didn't see an issue with Shae Patterson's brother joining the Ole Miss staff the year he was recruited?

Sorry but I don't believe your sources. A poster on this board stated the FACT that Eaux was too paranoid to make the hire. Something about Faulk having more clout with the LSU community than Eaux has. No way it will happen.

So this might help people get over the E hire?

Oh give it a minute, it will happen.

It's happening. Page 2 of this other thread.

Ponchy Tiger: If it was true that Kevin Faulk was being considered he probably wasn't hired because O was intimidated by his him. Faulk carries a lot more weight and clout on that campus and with the fan base than O does.

MastrShake: that alone should make filling the position a top priority going into 2019, but of course orgeron is too inept to concede that.

MastrShake: i love Faulk, i think he's as responsible as anyone for bringing LSU back from the dead, as important as Emmert and Saban (it was talent like that that lured saban here), but even if he is the new DPP, theres nothing in his history to suggest he'd be good at it.

MastrShake:that job requires endless organizational, marketing, and recruiting skills. if he's supposed to be replacing Austin, throw talent evaluation and scouting into the mix as well. you dont just hire a famous alum for that job (at least you dont if youre competent).

BayouBengals18: What qualifications does Faulk have that make you think he would be good in a Player Personnel position?

The idiots are out spewing their venom.

I'm sure they'll approve him, but the approval committee is busy at the moment doing approvals for Freeze and 40 hookers to become official university employees of Bama.

Member when Faulk lost a fumble in South Bend for a touchdown the preceded to return the kickoff for a LSU touchdown? I member. Hopefully he can bring what he learned from Belichick.

What's wrong with this question? Faulk was one of my childhood heroes and one of the saviors of our program but I honestly don't know anything about what he's done since his playing career that makes him a slam dunk addition to the staff. I'm glad he's back home but maybe you could explain what he brings to the staff and what precisely his role will be instead of bitching about people hypothetically bitching about the hire.

As I mentioned before, SEC legend and 3X Super Bowl Champion will immediately earn the respect of the players. GREAT HIRE! He is the ultimate competitor. I doubt he allows mediocrity. Now lets add Ryan Clark please.

To be clear Faulk is stepping in as the Head of Player Development, not Personnel.

Those are two different positions.

Personnel = Team Travel logistics, Film & Recruiting operations

Development = Mentoring and coaching players 1 on 1, tell them what it takes to be successful both in life and professionally.

Gotcha. All I've seen is the article in the OP which says he'd be on the "support staff" and further that "Support staff members are not allowed to recruit off campus or coach on the field."

Drawing a blank on the name, sorry, age issues, but the Cocks & Boom just did the same thing with their former All American RB. He was on the guy with the big ears tv show last wk & his title sounded just like Faulk's will be. He went into some of his duties & a lot will be working with current players' issues in life, school, football, etc that he can offer advice on, life planning after football, some PR work for the program. Did not mention recruiting per se but as famous as these two former players are with their fan bases, it's a safe bet that they will be meeting players and their families on any on campus recruiting visit, just like professors teaching their majors are brought in to meet & greet. This is 100% good news for the program.

Anyone who played for Belichick for that long obviously has discipline and possesses something special. That being said I don't care for Ryan Clark. I would like to have Mawae back though.

Read this - LINK - It will give you some insight.

"Recruiting activities are limited to on-campus visits. NCAA rules allow only on-the-field staff to travel."

Look for Faulk to step in a waiver for Sullivan on the recruiting trail.

That clears it up. I’m completely fine with him coming into the “development” department, but if it was more along the lines of a “personnel” position like Thomas, I would be skeptical. I even stated in my post that I’ve wanted KF in some capacity for a while, but of course Reetard left that out. A development position seems great for him.

What does the position entail?

I think bring Faulk around the program can only be good thing. How involved will/can he be?
