I've seen this topic posted but this is the most "official" reporting of the hire I have seen.

LSU's football staff will have THREE guys who were coaches/players with Super Bowl rings.

Former Tigers running back Kevin Faulk is in the process of joining the program's support staff, though the move is not final, multiple sources told The Advocate.

Faulk, a Lafayette native who signed with LSU in 1995 as one of the state's most sought-after recruits, is expected to serve a player development-type role for coach Ed Orgeron.

Faulk, 41, interviewed for the position last week, hoping to rejoin a program that still holds him in such high regard. Faulk is the school's all-time leading rusher (4,557 yards), and no LSU back has run for more scores (46).

Knowing our luck with the SEC, he probably won’t be approved

The quote below is from the article. Just another rule that gives the SEC more control over teams than they should have. They may delay making the decision just to negatively affect LSU.

quote:

Faulk, a high school coach at Carencro High in Lafayette, must be approved by the Southeastern Conference to assure he has no ties to current players or walk-ons, which could violate a new NCAA policy (Individual Associated With a Prospect). The IAWP rule prohibits programs from hiring high school coaches and others associated with a recruit for a two-year period before and after the recruit’s enrollment.

So the SEC didn't see an issue with Shae Patterson's brother joining the Ole Miss staff the year he was recruited?

ETA: Ignore me, I'm an idiot who is new to the whole reading and comprehending thing

Great move. Helps to lock in the 2019 backs Noah Cain, Tyron Davis, and John Emery.

I'm glad he could be on staff. But let's not get carried away. Guys like him aren't out recruiting. He won't even be coaching.

Really not getting the requirement for SEC approval. At what point point does LSU tell the SEC to STTDB?

Who says the SEC has a problem with Faulk joining LSU's staff?
