I did not enjoy reading that. Why should LSU have to pay Tulane a million dollars a year just to beat the crap out of them? Group of 5 teams are so whiny

My biggest thing is, for schools that don't think they need LSU for anything, they are quick to start bitching when LSU looks out for their own interests and decides not to schedule them.

quote:

The Cajuns’ coach had said some things earlier in the week that were taken out of context by the media.

Nothing was out of context.
quote:

Wade capped off the night with an infamous statement that he would never schedule the Cajuns for future match-ups under their current leadership.

That is not what he said at all. He explained why we can't schedule them due to SEC rules.
quote:

Even so, college football nostalgics will tell you that this rivalry has important historical significance, going all the way back to 1893. In fact, Tulane has a building on its campus whose windows are rumored to be arranged in such a way that they spell out “Go Green Wave, beat LSU” in punch card/Morse code – a subtle architectural nod to the intense rivalry.

Adorable, I don't care. During the BCS era, who you played mattered, and LSU gained nothing from playing Tulane.
quote:

It’s just the latest example of LSU bullying a smaller in-state team, despite Mainieri’s strong words having no basis on the field in recent years. In the last three seasons, the Tigers are 1-5 vs Tulane, 1-2 vs McNeese State, and 2-2 against UNO and the Ragin’ Cajuns.

This guy's ignorance is palpable. LSU was sick of Tulane's price gouging and told them to shove it. That's it.
quote:

It’s natural to hold a little animosity against a program that’s beaten you five of the last six times, so I can understand Manieri’s frustration.

This guy is a hack I stopped reading here. This is nothing more than a tamper tantrum about mean ol' LSU with little factual basis to support his whining.

I couldn't make it to the end of that garbage. I threw in the towel when that dumbass threw out some scenario of Tulane having to play Mississippi State in baseball during the midweek because LSU cancelled the series...and the trip to Starkville would make the Tulane players miss class.

Dumb article all the way around by someone who is a wannabe journalist.

So the flagship university of the state is supposed to give a shite about other small schools? About 5 of which should probably be shut down anyway?

quote:

The fact is, in-state rivalries are good for in-state athletics. Some of the top football recruiting states in the country (Texas, California, Florida, Georgia) all have great in-state rivalries; Florida-Florida State, USC-UCLA, UGA-Georgia Tech, etc.

When there's an equal to LSU in Louisiana they should maybe consider playing them. Until then..

He neglected to mention the part about Tulane jacking up ticket prices when LSU comes to town because they know LSU fans will make up half the crowd. And if you don't want to go to the game you have to pay $8 to TULANE to watch on their stream.

The fact that Little Sisters are still pissed about it makes it that much sweeter.

If these other schools want more national recognition, maybe they can invest in it themselves, and not rely on LSU to do it for them.

1. Tulane is a private school, and charges all those carpetbaggers thatfo there a small fortune. I dont Give a frick about the cost of its baseball team.

2. The travel ban is dumb because most of those away games come with significant paydays for the smaller school.

3. The whole bit about the 2000 CWS appearances and the Lafayette little league team was really dumb. Maybe LSU and ULL were good because Louisiana has great baseball players.

That's a whole lot of BS whining. Honestly, LSU owes other State schools and Louisiana athletics nothing. It has a responsibility to its own athletes, coaches, and fans.

Also, re: the proposed Bill that would have prevented State schools from travelling more than 375 miles except for post-season and championships except for LSU: let me know when every other AD in the State is self-supporting like TAF is.

Did he ever mention a ticket to the box vs Tulane is what 10 bucks and at Tulane vs lsu is 30? Tulane only wants to make money they dont care about the product on any field court or diamond.

I honestly could not tell if that article was Onion-style satire or if it was serious. If it was satire or some elaborate form of performance art then it was excellent.

I wished we still played Tulane in football 6 out of every 10 yrs or so. No reason not play them in basketball. We play some horrible teams OOC in both sports so if Tulane is as awful as many here maintain, then there you go.

No reason to not play Tulane in football if we're going to keep littering the schedule with 1-AA garbage.
