For the Ranters who don’t understand why some of us still hype up Will Wade…

I mentioned this in another thread but thought it warranted its own.
LSU is a football first and baseball second university. Most reasonable fans understand this. Knowing this, most reasonable fans don’t expect LSU to be in contention for a basketball championship or even final four every year. Most reasonable fans honestly would be very satisfied with a team that plays hard, is competitive, always in the running for a SEC championship, makes the tournament every year and wins at least the first two rounds and makes a run at sweet 16 or better once every several years. Most reasonable fans just wants a competitive team that is fun to watch. This is exactly what Will Wade brought to the table. He built basketball teams that were fun to watch and were competitive. He would have had us in the top of the SEC every year, in the tournament every year and with a chance to make a deep run every several years. He loved being here and would have been content spending his entire career here.
Makes perfect since to me and I would take that back in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, Woodward and LSU admin could give a shite less about what's best for the program.

You don’t get to this^ point without being committed to championship basketball. And when you have that, not a single person on this board would be satisfied with flaming out in the sweet 16 every year
Wade got us there once and it was exciting as hell but if he was still here and continued to lose in the second tournament weekend every year yall would be calling for his head too

That’s not a high bar at all.

The expectations aren't outrageous. I've said before, and I don't speak for all LSU MBB fans, but NCAAT 3/5 years, an NIT and a rebuild year - consistently competitive.
Brady, TJ, CJJ, Wade, CoachMc. Name the one that met that simple criteria.
Why some LSU "fans" make it point to say they don't care about MBB - and shite on the actual fans - is testament to their idiocy. Fandom is not mutually exclusive to sport. Anyone can understand Football is #1 - always will be. Baseball, due to success is #2. That's fine.
Why people go out of their way to dump on the best success we've had in MBB for the last 4 coaches is absolutely insane to me.

Reasonable fans expect WW to coach LSU with a very low salary if he is hired because he is the one who created this mess.
^^^ I'm serious, give me an amount, $1k min.
The only reason I say within 3 years is because LSU AD is hell bent on running this into the ground.

Wade wasnt that great of a coach. He wasn't really an x's and o's guy. We still played most of the game in isolation with maybe a screen here and there. We still missed layups. We still Didn't know how to run a fast break. He definitely had more talent to work with though

They understand, but they are tired of discussing it. The same ones over and over get irritated when Will Wade threads appear. Apathy has set in for some. I reckon I’m in that segment. This regime sucks so much I just try to ignore it altogether.

I’m always amazed at how ignorant these posts are. If you don’t watch or don’t understand the game you don’t have to comment on that stuff.

What about our basketball history makes you think that’s reasonable? That’s effectively what we do in football if football had a 64 team tournament to end the year. “Always in the running for an SEC title” and “making the NCAAT every year” is not a reasonable bar. There is exactly one school in this league who meets that criteria and even they haven’t recently which is why they have a new coach

Wade was sacrificed for football and it was well worth it.
Posted on 3/9/25 at 11:24 pm to Carter
Not saying he wasn’t but that’s a retarded reason and it was worth it? What has football won in the past 3 years?
