One of the hottest coaches last off season Kirby Smart just lost to Vandy and UGa looks awful. All I am saying is we are 50/50 that our next coach will be successful and all we did was fire a coach with the highest winning percentage of any other sec coach at the time he was fired.

SO you're saying we should stick with a coach who was overseeing a declining program just because we might not find a great coach.
I would take issue with Smart being one of the hottest coaches. Yes, he had the Saban thing but UGa is maybe one of the only major programs who wanted him so badly. Smart is a former UGa player. That is not a good criteria anymore than hiring Orgeron because he is from Louisiana.
None of Saban's former assistants other than Fisher have done well: Muschamp, Dooley, Smart (thus far). The jury is out on McIlwain.
Miles was sucking the joy out of the program. His antiquated offense was incapable of achieving great success and it was not entertaining. HE HAD TO GO.

I understand people like you are scared of change. Hey we aren't really good but we aren't to bad either. That's what Miles was
Going to do for the rest of his time.
I would rather take a chance on a new coach and fail than sit there going 9-3, 8-4 without a real chance to win a NC

(Miles) became a bad coach because he failed to adapt to the changing landscape of college football. Nothing more, nothing less

Yes, he failed to adapt, but it was way MORE than that. His fatal flaw was interfering with the offense. Even a dinosaur offense can do well if it has great players and competent playcalling (see what Coach E and O are doing now).

Miles was running the offense in safe mode to try to avoid mistakes by the QB. He was calling runs into a stacked box when everybody watching knew what we were going to do. He was tipping off defenses on what we were going to do based on our personnel packages and formations. Our tempo was bad with him debating and second guessing the OC's calls. Clock management was also bad. Our players did not have confidence in our scheme on offense, and it affected the D because they didn't like staying on the field all game to bail out an inept offense.

We had way more issues on offense with Miles than just an outdated system. Coach O and E are doing great and I can see the improvement on offense every game.

Miles was a great recruiter and average game day coach. Smart is proving to be a below average game day coach and yet to be determined recruiter. We get one hire of this is a great job. Ask UTenn how it is if that first hire is a bust.

Thanks Oz, we thought that through and are cool with taking our chances on new blood.

Everything must come to an end tigerbacon. Les' time at LSU had past last season when CFB finally passed his "Will it into existence" offense, and he was unwilling to change with it, and he made zero changes from last year to this like he assured everyone he would. I appreciate what Les did for LSU, but in the end, LSU will ALWAYS be bigger than any one personality, because LSU was here before them, and will be here long after every personality is gone.

You can't run a stubborn, hard headed, run it up the middle at will offense against the caliber of talent in the SEC because you think you can enforce it because you want to. In the end, it was Les' own refusal to change, ego, and ridiculous loyalty to particular individuals that cost him his job. LSU didn't do that to him. He did it to himself.

I hate this argument. Kirby never had any HC experience prior to getting to UGA. I fully expect LSU to hire a HC not a hot coordinator.

Screw Les Miles.... We should have fired his arse after 2012 season.

Honestly Les Miles is no longer affiliated with LSU (thank God) so why in the hell are we still talking about him here?

OP fails to realize if we had fired him last year we'd be undefeated and #2 in the country right now.

Dude, please stfu. You're making yourself look ignorant. Nobody that follows lsu closely thinks that miles had the program on the right track.

We have been rolling downhill since the 2011 debacle and it was clear he wasn't going to make the changes needed

Agree. We didn't pay les $10m Just so we could settle for our dline coach

I don't know where people get this stupid line. Nobody is settling for anything. If the man can do the job then you hire him. I happen to believe that he is the best man for the job right now.
