That is because Ed took his eye off of the ball when it concerns football and just was worried about chasing tail

List those he missed he should have gotten, and those he should not have taken with links to posts pointing this out.

Age old scouting/coaching conundrum, was it the recruiting agency that overvalued them, or was it the coaching that didn’t develop them?

The staff won a NC. Many players flourished under that same staff. Players that did not flourish were not good enough or they didn’t want it bad enough. LSU put a lot of guys into the NFL.

Orgeron wasn’t as good of a recruiter as people acted like he was. It’s LSU the brand sells itself. A monkey can recruit here.

He recruited players like he hired assistants. It's more about the appearance than it was about the fit.

I'm glad Kelly has been able to pull it together

lol what? Kelly landed 2 3 stars and a OL transfer.

Rest of the class was brought in by O.

Wiggins was coming to lsu regardless of who the coach was

For being a master recruiter

I've come to believe that it was reputation.

O is the coach equivalent of a veteran used car salesman. He can definitely recruit, but I think his reputation from his early days coaching players like Warren Sapp who raved about him for years, is what really propped up the myth of "master recruiter".

Guy did get Joe Burrow and that was likely the best LSU recruitment ever... but O was far from consistent in landing the big dogs. He was hired under the promise that he'd "put that fence back up" around Louisiana, but at best the fence stayed as porous as before, and more realistically it got worse.

I still think Ed is a good recruiter, but I definitely don't think he's "great".

You are in no position to critique low IQ posters.
And to deny that Orgeron, as outgoing coach, had no impact on this class reflects, well, a low IQ.

Ed Orgeron is responsible for 99% of this class, good and bad.

His shitty results on the field and subsequent firing is responsible for the loss of any potential recruit.

O was a shitty coach but does he not get credit for bringing in chase, Jefferson, Damien Lewis, etc?

Emendation.

Point him at a recruit and say go get, he's as good as anyone. He has not been able to be 'just that' in a long

Been trying to explain this to people for a long time now. His issue is determining who needs to be recruited.

A HC that is an average recruiter but great at roster management and talent evaluation is worlds better than a head coach who is a great recruiter but a poor roster manager and evaluator.

O's skill as a master recruiter is far better under the umbrella of a quality head coach.

These same idiots would have us believe they would have refused a scholarship to Stingley and Ricks. Every dropped pass and whiffed block next season will be blamed on low character "O guys" while Kelly will get a statue for leading the team to 8 wins.
