Then they can pay for their education. Why should tax payers have to pay for a rich athletic who’s getting NIL money.
The scholarship is part of the payment. It's all rolled into one package. Football players more than compensate for what they are given, $, scholarship and all. They bring in all the money. All other sports short of men's bb and baseball(sometimes) don't bring in anything. Why are they allowed to be given a scholarship and NIL? Livvy Dunne became a multimillionaire at LSU. Why is no one asking for her to return all she was given by the school? She could easily pay for all of them. Why doesn't she? Where's the love of the sport in that situation? Football players are being wrongly criticized in the NIL era. They are the breadwinners.

well I can 100% say that they never had their name in the any of the games... now you could mod and put in player names. They did have the same numbers and similar physical attributes though.
They had people with their numbers, height weight and attributes based on them.
and I bought the game each year because the LSU team was based on that years LSU team.
it’s like having a movie with poorly drawn Mickey Mouse in it and just calling him Mike Mouse

You can’t really say football players don’t have a right to a scholarship if other programs still have it available. Just because some football players are worth more for what they do. And not all football players receive tons of money for nil. It’s a tough situation. You would have to base it on finances. Which i guess is possible. But it’s not as simple as you all think it is.

NCAA Football 2026 will only play on the newest Xbox and PlayStation consoles
That have been out for 5 years? Every college kid already has one.

the X box with the disk drive is $750.
A series X 1TB is currently ~$499. And that’s not when you can get the best deals. I bought that model last year for $399 w/ extras included.

All 14000 kids have their names on the jersey? They give each the deluxe version…so I guess they can build themself into a game. Son is a backup kicker…so that’ll take some doing for him to play as himself. Guess they’ll get a game every year?
It amazes me how many questions you ask on this board that you can easily ask your son and get the answer.

Right? Mustachioed Italian plumbers don't get anything from Mario games

Are you serious? Do you think anyone is buying that game if it’s just a random collection of players that aren’t based on the actual roster?

What? So you think a company should have the right to make video games and put anyone they want in them and make money from it?

I bet all that sounded better in your head. I’m not going to stoop to your low IQ and argue with you. Bless your heart.

Taxpayers are paying LESS at programs like LSU, Florida, and Alabama because of the football teams
Some of you are truly morons

if they had been smarter about it they could have gotten away with it but they literally had guys with the same height, weight, skin tone, hometown, position, and number as the real player and just called him QB #10

I’m fine with that. I think we are moving to an employer-employee relationship anyway. But, recruiting still matters and universities want every advantage in recruiting Offering free tuition to employees is an advantage.
I work for a small university and they offer free tuition to me, my wife, and kids if we want to take classes.
I’m sure LSU offers similar perks to its employees. Why would some employees have that perk and others not. That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Does it bother you that your tax money allows an LSU professor’s kid to attend LSU tuition-free? If not, what is the difference. The LSU football player is paying back that tuition 100x or more based on the revenue he creates for LSU athletics.

100%
All that needed to happen was to have customizable rosters with 3rd party websites that allowed roster configurations to be downloaded.

No
I think a company should be able to make video games of a sporting event as long as they get permission (license) from the entity that owns the rights to said sporting event.
