Atkins got some playing time too, not a ton but he was out there in minutes that mattered.

Other than Atkins, this is just an admission of how bad some of the recruiting was at “DBU”. Johnson was always a longshot too obviously

In 10 years it’ll be a single portal full of transfers and high school players. There will be no more recruiting.

Basically you would need not every school to agree but every fan of every school.
As long as someone’s willing to say “nah you can take this deal and if you hate it transfer” then it won’t work. they will have an advantage if their money is good.

78 schlorships. That's a key point to guys like this entering. We don't really know how many portals guys Kelly is going to go after and we will not have more than 2 more declare for the draft if anymore at all. Id bet we sign around 4 portal guys by mid week and we're back up to 82ish. It's a numbers game with the 85 limit.
And no, we can't go to 105 due to an SEC rule still in effect.

Exactly. Also, as pointed out elsewhere just because they go in the portal does not mean they are leaving its human nature to test the waters when you see so many out there getting paid. (supposedly)

Coaches have to win. If there's a portalite with more experience and of comparable talent, then a coach is compelled to bump the player "waiting his turn" and roll with the experience.
OTOH, players have to get on the field. We can wee & whine all we want about players not wanting to compete, but if they don't win their position battle, should we expect them to bide their time entirely from the sideline? IOW, if they stay, they run the risk of getting bumped from the flight by a portalite.
IDK how to make it stop. But I don't see if as a positive development for CFB.
