In the opening game of last season (on the road at Florida State) the Irish began on their own 25 with 2 WRs split on either side and the TE (Michael Meyer) lined up a few yards detached from the right OT.
FSU were in nickel with 4 down linemen and the TE ran a simple short 5 yard out route, caught the short pass and broke two tackles as he ran to midfield.
Kelly often likes to open up passing.
And his other favourite tactic is to routinely take the ball first when he wins the toss, rather than deferring to the second half. Will be interesting to see if he adjusts this in the SEC.

Why not follow the pattern from the Oct. 26, 1991 Florida State (#1) @ LSU game: First LSU offensive play from scrimmage-- off-tackle fold to Eddie Fuller for two yards. Second play-- Loup fires a 63-yard fly pattern to Todd Kinchen, TOUCHDOWN!!!
