The first game I remember Jerry Stoval was playing. He looked to be taller than most of the rest of the players. And he had impressive calves.
So it was probably 1962. I would have been 5 years old. I don’t recall the opponent.
Still have the same seats.

That was Doug Dickey's first year at Tennessee. He had a good run there and were a Top 10 team in 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1969. He didn't have near as much success coaching his alma mater Florida.

It's amazing the attendance was so high for that game. I think because LSU had so much success in '82 that it would carry over for '83, and for that night, it sure looked that way. LSU waxed a very good Washington team.
For some reason, I remember the weather being cold and damp that night even though it was mid-September. Is my memory correct?

I was there, and though it got tense of the final play when Russell Huber got tackled inside the one on a pass from Foley, it was entertaining. And I believe Juan Roca kicked a then-record 53 yarder in that game; I believe that may have been the longest FG in LSU history before Cade York's late game heroics v. Florida.
9-3 LSU. Not a huge victory, but still a win. And it seemed like Tulane made up a majority of fans in the stands that night.

November 16, 1968. Mississippi St. Vs LSU. LSU won 20-16. Fred Haynes from Minden was one of the quarterbacks that played. I was sitting between two groups of older folks drinking whiskey out of brown paper bags. That's what I remember most.

My first game in Tiger Stadium was as an 8 year old in 1949: LSU vs. Southeastern. My dad was student at Southeastern on the G.I. Bill. Dad, Mom and us 3 kids piled into the Studebaker and drove to BR for the afternoon game.
TS was still a horseshoe then. Although LSU pounded SLC in the first half, the Tiger coach, Tinsley, was not satisfied with the team's efforts. He pulled the entire first string and sent them to the practice field south of the stadium for full contact drills while the second unit mopped up Southeastern. You could see the team practicing through the open south end of the stadium.

Astute observation Capt. Obvious.

LSU vs. App State in 2008, the Gustav 10AM kickoff my freshman year. The heat was killing people who were far more sober than I was. The next day we were helping unload patients being evacuated from NOLA in military helicopters that were landing in the middle of the track at Bernie Moore and wheeling them over to the PMAC in gurneys. I remember calling my parents (both LA natives) afterwards and telling them I was shocked that anyone would give a bunch of hungover 18-year-old student volunteers that kind of job. Their response was essentially "welcome to Louisiana."

LSU- Ga Tech in 1957. We won easily. A warm up for our Natty in 58. I was 13.

1957 vs. A&M when I was 7. Sat right behind goal posts in north end zone. LSU won with Billy Cannon and Jimmy Taylor in same backfield. Remember maybe two plays in the game. Parents made me wear a coat and tie to the game. Was more interested in treats during the game and buying a pennant afterward.
Next game was a 1958 win over Hardin-Simmons. I wasn’t much more attentive.
At that time in my life I thought wins over A&M were automatic. The last time I saw LSU play in person was the 50-7 win over A&M in 2019. Not much has changed.

Sept 17, 1960 in TS LSU beat A&M 9-0. Kickoff was 8pm as all home games were in those days (except Tulane which was always a day game.) I was 9 years old and my family had just moved to BR from Texas. Before the season was over, we were firm LSU fans and have remained so for the duration.
I remember exactly nothing about the actual game.
