Caleb Williams opted out first.

Won’t be much drop off if Thomas and Nabers play. They’ll still get separation and YAC. Now if Nabers and Thomas don’t play then we may see a bit of a drop off.

Opt outs really didn’t start until CMc and Fournette. Since then, only 2 Heisman winners have opted out of bowl games. Both this year, Caleb and JD5. Those are also the first two not playing in the playoffs.

Worrying about injury isn't the way to be a successful pro. I guess I'm old school but in my house we honor our commitments. Not cut and run.

They have probably been in the playoffs the last few years

Most of us dont like it.

Thinking about picking a DII team to pull for every week so college football will have meaning again. Its not much different than the pro product going forward.

Give me one good reason why Daniels needs to play?

I'll tell why he isn't.
1. Doesn't want to risk injury before draft.
2. Knows he's done almost everything he could for LSU and the very last thing he can do is to let Nuss be the starter to start getting significant reps with the team.

Yup. All of this. Would've been nice to see him play a series, but I understand it. It'll give Nuss a couple of weeks with the 1s and we'll know what we have going forward with him, though we already knew from the 2nd half of the SECCG. He takes a lot of chances and is more prone to picks than JD5. I think he'll probably get sharper in these two weeks before and onwards and we'll have a good QB that's less mobile with a better rb corps and O-line next year

And I don’t know where you guys find LSU that more talented except for WRs (if available).

LSU should be better at all offensive positions except running back. LSU WR room will have opt-outs but Sconnie already has multiple WR starters in the portal. Defensively linebacker is better for LSU but yea I'd definitely give them the edge up front and in the secondary

Jayden being out will hurt but this LSU team was 9-3 against a very tough schedule, while Wisconsin was 7-5 against a mediocre schedule. There's a gap here. I don't expect a 30 point win, but Sconnie is definitely beatable and LSU should win if they play well imo.

I'd rather our future QB get meaningful snaps in preparation for next season.

I’d rather he stay with the team, take a few snaps, and then go to the bench.

I understand the downsides of playing the bowl game, but I don’t like that we have normalized just leaving the team altogether like this

I'm glad because he needs to protect himself and future.

A college football playoff won't diminish the bowls.
there are 41 bowl games, so 82 out of 133 FBS teams play in bowls.

THAT'S what diminishes the bowls.

This was realistically expected, the sudden uproar is hilarious

I think it rubs most of us the wrong way in principle. But after what this guy just did for our team - the thrills, the stats, the Heisman and recruiting boost - and what he has on the line should he play and get hurt, idk, if he were my son or my client I would advise him, no way.

Can you remember when another LSU QB opted out of a bowl game? Even though it meant LSU had to start a wide receiver at QB? Off the scout team, no less.

What did you post then?

Caleb Williams... Opted out (Dec 4) before the Heisman was awarded this year so he was the reigning Heisman winner when he opted out...

I don't care if he plays or not.

Giving this game to Nuss will help Kelly decide if he needs to bring in another QB for next year. And at what level - capable of being a starter or for depth purposes.

Yet it will be Coach Kelly’s fault if our offense falls flat. Right?
