The pass rush has looked good. I'd like to see some improvement defending against the run, especially the interior line. The same goes for the linebackers, as run support on the second level needs to get better.

I've mentioned this to people outside this board, but I definitely can see why Orgeron spoke so highly and was almost giddy about the defense/philosophy change preseason. He has been looking at it through the eyes of a defensive lineman/defensive line coach. And I get it because it's awesome to see a d-line pin their ears back and shoot gaps. I just hope it didn't blind him to the need to be solid in the back 7 as well, or that there is such a thing as being overly aggressive.

The LBs are the weak spot

They need to step up in the run game

I believe you are confusing D line with secondary.

Where the hell is this narrative that the D Line has been bad? Who is saying it? It’s the best performing unit of the defense and has been daily consistent.

They have looked really good in pass rush but they were pushed around in the run game against Vandy. I don't know the reason for that but it was very noticeable and will not bode well against a quality opponent.

I'm not, the fact of the matter is to stop Leach's offense you dont constantly blitz and leave guys 1 on 1 in man everywhere which is what we did and put that game on a silver platter for Costello and co. Great they got pressure in game 1, it was a dumb game plan from the start there to be blitzing so damn much.

You play cover 2/cover 3 against Leach and rush 3/4 all game, what we should have done especially considering they couldnt block Gaye, Evans or Ojulari anyways. Instead we blitzed linebackers, dbs most of game.

The first few plays Roy played seemed to be a wakeup call that he wasn't going against the Brusly High School OL. Vandy's OL moved him pretty good. But he adjusted really quickly and started shoving the Vandy OL into the backfield on multiple plays.

I think it was a big worrisome that the DT's got gashed on a few occasions, but I think adding Logan back to the mix will help. The DT's right now aren't guys who are great at shooting gaps. They are more BIG than quick. But if they can push middle of the pocket back into the QB that is almost as good as a sack.

I don't think big holes = being pushed around. Vandy was running into lanes we voided because we were stunting/shooting gaps.

I think the D-line is decent, but not anything special yet. Still need to build depth with those young guys. I believe our pressures are a little inflated because MSST gave us 60 chances to rush the passer in week 1.

They're not bad just inexperienced is all. One more warm up gain and we will see where they're at

Actually, they did plenty to affect that game. It was the secondary that failed us.

Because we left them out to dry with 1 on 1 matchups everywhere with guys who shouldnt have even been playing while we were busy blitzing over half the time against an offense you should almost never blitz against.

I'm not bashing the DL, bashing the completely retarded game plan we had in that game.
