Who said the D Line was bad? Where are you guys getting this persecution complex?

To be fair, I've seen a number of posters (I have no idea what the overall percentage is of people who think the D-line is a problem, though) who have said our D-line sucked, and that Florida was going to have a field day. Which is weird, considering it seemed pretty obvious where the problems were actually coming from. Nevertheless, I have, in fact, seen this stated.

D line is good. Line backers are not. Vandy gashed the defense with the run game

threads about how much Aranda sucked last year. OP is an Orgeron first guy. Aranda wasn't his hire, so he gets shite on all season. BP is his hire, so he will find any way possible to praise him. The LSU team is secondary to his love affair of Orgeron. Get used to it, because it won't change.

that’s why he blames aranda for the miss state game and run defense vs vandy. I couldn’t believe he posted that Plus wanting aranda fired all year. Even in the Clemson game

They have looked really good in pass rush but they were pushed around in the run game against Vandy.

Not really they stunt more like it or not than Aranada's teams, and the linebackers have not filled the holes.

It certainly isn't bad, and I am excited for the future with what I saw from the younger guys like ROY and Evans

Whoever said the d-line is bad? They were the sole bright spot from the first game. Costello was under constant duress, but was mobile enough with tons of pocket awareness to continuously step up and buy time enough to get the ball away.

Wonder what Shelvin is tipping the scales at now.

but saying the D-line didn't help against state is far from accurate.

Playing more passive is the way to play against Leach's air raid. I'm not saying defensive linemen shouldn't try to pressure the QB at all, but agian, what good did it really do in the end when they could still get the ball out quick enough to make a difference.

Arkansas had 18 total pressures (only 1 by non DLine) on Costello's 64 drop backs.

We had 41 total pressures (12 by non Dline) on Costello's 65 drop backs.

So almost same number drop backs each game. We got 29 total Dline pressures, Arkansas had 17. Pressuring really is kind of not that relevant against that offense. The more guys you leave back in coverage the better. Many times Arkansas was only bringing 3 guys, thats it.

Ahh, I see what you're saying, I hadn't heard anything from a credible source stating this. Turns out it's just idiots on the rant? Good thing nobody here knows what they're talking about.

My biggest concern, by far, for the defense, is whether or not Pelini will bother to make adjustments against the more vertical oriented passing attacks like Florida and Alabama, down the road.

My biggest concern is when will Pelini make the adjustments to cover the damn RB out of the backfield. That play is open all day long against our Defense. The swing pass and wheel route needs to be addressed immediately.

Roy makes this line so much better... hard to believe he's a true freshaman playing his 1st snaps... granted it was against the SEC doormat that is Vandy, but still... very encouraging to see, nonetheless...

I have been impressed with the DL so far. Gaye continues to impress and Anthony has also made his presence known. The young guys in the middle Evans and Roy looked good too! I saw on more than one occasion Evans shoot the gap and be in the backfield and force the RB to cut back and find another running lane, Roy as well. The LBers minus Cox seem just a half a second too slow in diagnosing the play. Queen and White always seemed to be a half second ahead of diagnosing the play.

I’m not giving up on the LBers or any position group right now. The potential/athleticism is there. Lots of first timers out there, that will only get better the more reps they get.

Devils advocate: it’s Vandy and state...

This doesn’t mean I’m talking shite about our tigers but why use padded stats as a measuring stick then talk shite about clemsons schedule?

Is there a way to convert this to a % of total dropbacks. I think it's fair to say we've seen the most throws of any team so far

Why is everyone saying we are bad against rush when MSU average less than a yard a rush and Vandy 3.6?
