Marceaux was very impressive striking out 5 of 6 batters faced giving up only a swinging bunt that would not roll foul down the 3rd base line.
Costello struggled in the 1st inning giving up 3 straight singles followed by a walk leading to coach calling end of inning. He fared better in his second inning facing the minimum aided by a cs.

Why wasnt Cabrera on the gold team (which appears to be all the starters)?

He's not recovering as we'd hoped

Coach often mixes the veterans and newcomers during scrimmages trying to put players in comfortable positions and to make two full squads. Notice RF for Purple and 1st base for Gold. This is the first fall scrimmage in the last few that we haven't used walk-ons to fill out the teams. Rest assured, come spring, Cabrera will be in LF baring some disaster.

This is my favorite time of year. Football season is underway and fall baseball cranking up. I love going to the Box to check out the new team and catch up with old friends.

Can't believe fall ball is already here.

I did a search but couldn't find a schedule for the practices. Where can I find it?

Find someone in the coach's committee and have them let you know after they get the weekly e-mail or watch for LSURussian's post on this site. My fall back plan is to call the LSU Baseball office and try to find out from them. I miss the days when Micah Gibbs would post the schedule on his twitter account. Such an easy fix for this problem.

I thought Manieri said Willis was going to be out for the fall? Or miss time.
Unfortunately, CJ will begin this fall on the disabled list as the result of an injury he suffered during his senior year of high school. However, once he heals and is ready to go, everyone will be able to see an extremely talented and versatile baseball player. To begin with, CJ can really swing the bat from the left side. The ball jumps off his bat, and he can be an impact hitter. Secondly, he is in the development stages as a catcher, but has the potential to become a very athletic player behind the dish. He can also play both corner infield positions, as well as both corner outfield positions. At some point, his bat will force him into the lineup somewhere. We have to be patient with CJ and let him fully heal, and then we will get a good look at him in the spring."

He can do everything but throw according to PM.

Someone mentioned already that he can do everything but throw. It was the most recent update before the team practices started. He was rehabbing quicker than expected and is already 100% swinging the bat, so they're going to put him in the OF and 1B to get reps and ABs but no throwing at all.
ETA: If anyone is looking for additional confirmation of Josh Smith's health, he had two of the top 4 exit velocities yesterday.
And so far Gilbert, Beck, Storz, Hilliard, and Labas have not been cleared to throw. Beck and Gilbert won't pitch at all this fall. Unknown on the other three.

Can you expand on this. Was he quick? Does he have a rocket launcher for an arm?
And can he hit?
