UPDATE: Petition started: Petition to remove F. King Alexander

I came back from Chicago pissed off about the game of course, as we all are, and felt it was as good a time as any to try and do something about it starting up top:

quote:

Subject: Immediate removal of F. King Alexander

To:sballard@lsu.edu; aduplessis@lsu.edu; rranderson@lsu.edu; lmallett@lsu.edu; sperry@lsu.edu; sjacobs@lsu.edu; jmwilliams@lsu.edu; sangelle@lsu.edu; garmentor@lsu.edu; bchatelain@lsu.edu; jwmoore@lsu.edu; rmccollister@lsu.edu; ryarborough@lsu.edu; zfairc1@lsu.edu; jmccrery@lsu.edu; vjones@lsu.edu; wendys@lsu.edu

Cc: alexander@lsu.edu; athletics@lsu.edu; alleva@lsu.edu

To whom it may concern:

I dearly love Louisiana State University, my alma mater. It is with that love and passion driving me that I call for the immediate resignation and/or termination of F. King Alexander as LSU System President.

I want an LSU President that cherishes and cares about LSU ... our academics, our athletics, our brand, our reputation, our students, our athletes, our professors, our alumni, our campus, our traditions, our pageantry, our buildings, our history ... and most importantly: our future. I expect our President to care about all of these things and to work endlessly in making every area of LSU better. F. King Alexander has failed in his capacity as President and embarrassed our university on a national scale in recent years, both academically and athletically. Because of his failures, F. King Alexander must be terminated.

F. King Alexander proactively launched a campaign to our state and to the nation that our university was effectively "going out of business." Despite thousands of academic institutions around the country facing budget issues and potential fiscal cuts on a daily basis and working through those issues, F. King Alexander decided that LSU's budget talks should be politicized and aired publicly, and proceeded to embarrass this great university on a national stage. His desire for a quick-fix and his desire to entrench himself in politics clearly outweighed his required love for LSU. We have all suffered as a consequence, and when F. King Alexander is long gone from LSU, our students, professors, alumni, and supporters will still have to deal with the ongoing ramifications and embarrassment of his short-sighted actions.

On the athletic side, F. King Alexander overruled progress and a step forward for the LSU football program because it did not fit his narrative of LSU "going out of business." LSU football plays a vital and well-established role in the University as a whole, and F. King Alexander allowed politics and academic finance to determine the future of LSU football. I expect LSU's President to possess the intellectual capacity needed to clearly explain to the public and elected officials that LSU athletics does not get one cent from the University and academic side. I expect LSU's President to be able to precisely clarify to the public that LSU athletics actually pumps money into the University and academic side. I expect LSU's President to be able to accurately inform the public that LSU athletics is financially independent from the University . These are not unreasonable expectations that I have for LSU's President, yet F. King Alexander has failed to meet those expectations.

LSU has a proud past and bright future, but that future will never be fully realized while F. King Alexander is President. F. King Alexander has embarrassed our University academically, financially, athletically and therefore must be removed from his office as President. I call on the Board of Supervisors to remove F. King Alexander from his position, effective immediately.

Sincerely,

People need to make themselves heard. These emails, from only a few people will go mostly unrealized. These emails from a couple hundred or a couple thousand people will be heard.

They will do nothing. Absolutely, nothing.

Miles will be retained trough the remainder of the season and then fricking and Aleva will begin a bargain hunt for a replacement. It will end with a lack luster hire.

fricking is the problem.

Absolutely excellent. Too bad they don't give a frick. They proved it by letting this jackass come back.

You're a fricking idiot. King has done amazing things for the university. I'm so sorry the football team lost yesterday, but to fire the head of a UNIVERSITY that has done great things because a sport lost a game, is just fricking dumb. Grow up.
