My guess was 8-4 and I centered it around the smoke over the offensive line. Early camp reports said the defense was mauling them.

Yeah, it is either Beware the Ides of March OR Beware hype about the LSU DL. Remember the hype about Travante Valentine...remember the hype about this Gooden guy this preseason. TV couldn't even get on the field and Gooden has been adequate at best IMO. Whenever there is hype about the DL dominating the OL in practice after practice, ASSUME it is the OL that is bad, NOT that the DL is great.

You had a young OL and what some of us knew from the get go was an awful, awful OC.

This team was always destined to fail with Sloan as an OC. The guy has failed everywhere as an OC and has no idea how to play all and scheme a running game.

The Sloan hire and instance on running zone block schemes particularly intermittently with gap blocking schemes doomed this OL from the start.

The performance against Clemson, coupled with the Spring reports on the offense, made it clear this team would struggle unless there were significant improvements.

I predict a National Championship every year. I’ve gotten it right three times!

I had 8-4. For me it was the perceived downgrade at all offensive line positions except center, where we were horrible last year. I had WR as worse across the board, although with AA healthy even I expected more. QBs and RBs I had as a little better, but pointless due to offensive line.

Defense, I expected a bit worse. DLine and LBs I expected great things, CBs not as good as they are but better by far than last year, and I had no idea about safeties, but they couldn't be worse than last year.

Then I looked at returning production across the conference and for Clemson, compared it to ours, and didn't like what I saw. I had us losing vs: Clemson, Bama, A&M, and OK, but was very concerned about Scar as well.

One more thing, what's helped me be a lot more accurate in my predictions is just stop listening to radio and reports in the late summer, only concern yourself with returning production vs other teams and injuries. The hype train is unbearable every single time the season gets close, and it's ALWAYS 100% bullshite.

I picked us at 8-4 (which could still happen) at best and good chance at 7-5.

1) Completely unproven OC.
2) Nuss wasn’t and isn’t hungry like Joey B and Daniels. He’s not the prototypical champion in terms of work ethic.
3) Kelly lost every bit of grit and focus, in favor of the limelight and notion that he was some sort of CEO businessman, rather than sticking to his skill set.

It was fairly easy to envision being every single season an entire phase of the game was straight cheeks and never got any better as the year went on.

Roster construction gave it away

Specifically the oline

Lose 4 olineman and bring in only two. The idea that Davis was your only option at RT with no contingency plan is ludicrous.

Moron posters on here with the “you gotta play the guys on your roster at some point” deserve to be called out.

Not completely addressing the needs at oline cost LSU this season, Nuss millions in the NFL, and CBK his job.

No they didn’t. They are realistic and objective fans. Not the fans that say 10-2 and playoffs every year.

I predicted four losses looking at the schedule. Didn’t think it would get this bad.

The record is not the stunning part. It is the how it happened. We walked out of Clemson thinking we had a contender.

After Florida, we were ranked third but our offense had already been exposed. I had us realistically at 4 losses. Absolute best case scenario at that point we sneak into the playoffs and get destroyed in the first round.

It was quite the fall from week 1 to week 3 and we had not even lost a game yet.

“ They are contrarians who like to shite on LSU if its not as pristine as they think it should be, they got lucky”

Are calling 7-5 pristine?

Predicted it while watching at TS against LA Tech. It was pretty obvious from that performance that there was deep rot in the program and a complete overhaul was the only path forward.

I dont think anyone expected us to be this unbelieveably bad on offense, and do so much better than expected on defense. People picked 7-5 but they didnt predict why. Show me someone who called the context as well and ill tip my hat.
